Finnish love metallers HIM have entered the studio with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (APOCALYPTICA, AMORPHIS, MOONSPELL) to begin recording their ninth full-length album, "Tears On Tape", for an early 2013 release. The CD will be mixed by Tim Palmer, who has previously worked with PEARL JAM, U2 and ROBERT PLANT, among many others.

HIM will end this year by bringing back the Helldone Festival at club Tavastia in Helsinki, where they will perform for four nights in a row. Supporting HIM on all Helldone 2012 dates are their longtime partners in crime, THE SKREPPERS. This outrageous band fronted by producer/friend Hiilesmaa has stuck stubbornly to its blurry vision, operating somewhere between the psychobilly badlands, and rock and roll outer space. All dressed up in black leather, shiny vinyl, and stiletto heels. THE SKREPPERS' fifth album, "Sherwood Gays", was released in May 2012.

Another constant Helldone 2012 feature - bar New Year's Eve - will be Helsinki Vampire Club by DJ Jyrki69. From goth to glam and beyond, DJ Jyrki69 spins the records and you around at his pop-up dark discotheque at Semifinal Club during the Helldone nights. This is the best place to dance to the beat of HANOI ROCKS and turn into a Helsinki Vampire!

Additional support bands are:

Friday, December 28 - FACE OF GOD, a high-energy Helsinki trio that has released an EP called "Fire" and played over 130 gigs in well under two years - all the way from the dingiest of cellars to the Helldone stage. Right now the band is heading into the studio to record their debut album, a double nonetheless, consisting of an electric ("Dead Ballads And Forgotten Love Songs") and an acoustic ("Illogical Psychology") half.

Saturday, December 29 - FINAL ASSAULT consider themselves "gentlemen on their journey through '80s thrash." Their 2010 debut album was hardcore punk as uncompromising as it comes, but already last year's sophomore work, "Dead By Dawn", showed clear signs of crossing over into metal. The band is already working on their third album, promising it to be nothing less than "an epic speed-thrash-metal record."

More support acts for Sunday, December 30 and Monday, December 31 will be announced shortly.

HIM will release a greatest-hits album, "XX - Two Decades Of Love Metal", on October 26. The set will include the band's new cover version of the song "Strange World", originally recorded in the 1990s by Kevin Grivois (a.k.a. Kť).

The "Strange World" video and digital single was originally due on September 21 but has had its release date pushed up due to an online leak. You can now purchase the track digitally via iTunes.

Multi-camera video footage of EXODUS's headlining performance at the third annual Slaughter By The Water festival, which took place on August 25 on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier in Alameda, California, can be seen below (courtesy of Capital Chaos TV).

When asked whether EXODUS has plans to record the follow-up to 2010's "Exhibit B: The Human Condition" album, bassit Jack Gibson told Peek From The Pit in June, "We're way overdue to do it. We've just been so busy. Actually, we've been getting great tour offers over and over, and we just keep wanting to take them, and that, coupled with the fact that Gary [Holt], our main guitar player and songwriter, is out playing with SLAYER, he's filling in for [SLAYER guitarist] Jeff [Hanneman] on this whole [SLAYER tour]. Nobody really knows how long that's gonna take, how long Jeff's gonna take [to recover from contracting necrotizing fasciitis, likely caused by a spider bite, in January 2011]. I mean, it was pretty severe what happened to him, from what I understand. So we just haven't had the time, to be perfectly honest. I know that Gary has songs, and Lee [Altus, guitar] has some stuff - they've been coming up with stuff - [but] we just really haven't had the time to sit down and hammer it all out and then record it. That takes a few months together to make that happen, and we just haven't had the time, basically. But there is gonna be another album, for sure. The way that our writing has been going and our albums have been going, it's gonna be great - I know it. What I've heard Gary noodling with. Me, him and Tom [Hunting, drums] have kind of just fooled around with it here and there, and man, it's gonna be good. Gary, he's the main driver, and [the songwriting] keeps evolving. It's one of the things I really like about the band - the music keeps getting good; it doesn't just stay the same or we don't rewrite the last one. We kind of throw the last one out and do something new each time. So I expect the same and more from the next album."

"Exhibit B: The Human Condition" was released in North America on May 18, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The CD sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 114 on The Billboard 200 chart.

EXODUS' previous album, "The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A", opened with 3,600 units back in October 2007.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, the Anglo-American rock group comprising vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, TRAPEZE), drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, FOREIGNER), Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL) and blues-rock guitarist/vocalist Joe Bonamassa, will perform a one-off U.K. show in the heart of the Black Country, at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday, January 5, 2013.

U.K. digital radio station Planet Rock will launch an exclusive 48-hour ticket pre-sale starting on Wednesday, September 19 via

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on a strictly first-come-first-served basis from 9 a.m. on Friday, September 21 via the 24-hour ticket hotline 0844 478 0898 and

When fans visit from Wednesday, September 19, they will be able to receive a free download of the new BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION track "Confessor".

This special concert marks BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION's only U.K. appearance in 2013.

Given BCC's geographical and spiritual ties to the area (both Hughes and Bonham were born and raised in the Black Country), when discussions arose about where in the world the band would perform this one-off show, there was only ever going to be one outcome. The band is very excited to come home for this performance.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION will release its third album, "Afterglow", on October 30 (one day earlier internationally).

Just like its two predecessors, "Afterglow" was overseen by Kevin Shirley, whose catalog of hit records for LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, AEROSMITH, JOURNEY, THE BLACK CROWES and many more has made him one of the hottest producers that rock music has to offer. Shirley - who had the idea of putting Hughes and Bonamassa together in a band together after seeing them jamming onstage in Los Angeles back in November 2009 - is the group's unofficial "fifth member."

The additions of Jason Bonham, esteemed son of LED ZEPPELIN's John, who took his father's place when the legendary group made musical history by reuniting at London's O2 Arena in December 2007, and the in-demand Derek Sherinian, made them a force to be reckoned with.

In terms of content, "Afterglow" expands upon the progression that took place between "BCC" and "BCC2". Rich in hooks, melodies and choruses, it's nonetheless another of those highly rewarding albums that bears additional fruit with repeated spins.

"I wanted this album to have more acoustic moments than the previous two," explains Hughes. "I wanted to hear more of Derek [Sherinian] and I wanted the more angelic voice of Glenn as well as the more aggressive one which is there on songs like 'Crawl' and 'Midnight Sun'. Above all, I wanted more drama."

NIGHTWISH songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen recently spoke to Artisan News about the band's North American tour; how their latest album, "Imaginaerum", has been received; and the forthcoming premiere of the "Imaginaerum" movie. You can now watch the report below.

"We got some criticism for 'Imaginaerum', saying that this is no more metal, it's just soundtrack, there's too much orchestra, all that," Tuomas revealed. "There is a lot of that; that's what we wanted to do with this album, 'cause it's a soundtrack for a movie. Maybe next album will be total black metal without any orchestras or keyboards or totally acoustic. Who knows?! The main thing is that you always need to do what feels right."

NIGHTWISH's long-awaited "Imaginaerum" film - based on the band's album of the same name - will be released theatrically in Finland on November 23.

The movie will have its premiere on November 10 at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, where the audience will be treated to both a full-scale NIGHTWISH concert and the first-ever public screening of the movie.

Eagerly anticipated around the world, "Imaginaerum" creates a musical fantasy world in the vein of David Lynch, Neil Gaiman, and Cirque du Soleil. The movie is an innovative mixture of story-telling and music, an extraordinary tale of the power of imagination... and what's ultimately important in life.

Shot and post-produced in Canada, the movie was directed by Stobe Harju and produced by Solar Films, and features appearances by all NIGHTWISH members. The screenplay is based on a wild vision that Tuomas Holopainen, the mastermind of the band, devised after the album "Dark Passion Play" came out in 2007.

The official soundtrack of the movie, "Imaginaerum By Nightwish: The Score", will be released on the day before the premiere - Friday, November 9. The album features 13 grandiose, unreleased re-interpretations of "Imaginaerum" tracks by Petri Alanko.

The "Imaginaerum" album was released in the U.S. on January 10 via Roadrunner Records.

The CD landed at position No. 28 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Few Against Many" was released in Europe on May 21 via Century Media Records and in North America on May 22 through DisManic, Inc. via eOne Distribution. The CD was mixed by Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi at Audiohammer Studios (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, DEATH ANGEL) in Sanford, Florida.

A new trailer for "King Animal", SOUNDGARDEN's first all-new album in 16 years, can be seen below. The CD is due on November 13 via the Universal Republic label.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, a new SOUNDGARDEN song called "Been Away Too Long" will be shipped to rock radio stations next Wednesday (September 19).

SOUNDGARDEN drummer Matt Cameron told The Pulse Of Radio that the band's 2010 reunion after 13 years apart never felt contrived. "You know, it never really felt forced or anything to try to make a big comeback and, you know, make a reunion happen, 'cause it can certainly backfire," he said. "I think we wanted to just approach it very methodically, and I think we've been doing so."

The band recently launched a web site and teaser video for "King Animal", which included an excerpt from a track called "Worse Dreams".

The only new SOUNDGARDEN song to be heard in its entirety so far is "Live To Rise", which was the lead single from the soundtrack album of the blockbuster superhero film "The Avengers" this past summer.

SOUNDGARDEN's last full-length album was 1996's "Down On The Upside". The quartet disbanded the following year. Singer Chris Cornell embarked on a solo career and also joined AUDIOSLAVE, while Cameron became a member of PEARL JAM in 1998.

SOUNDGARDEN has yet to announce live plans for the rest of 2012 and beyond.
