good songs already....I think if the killing is horrible enough even an obstemious single killing - if brutal, could earn the description 'blood bath...'

(songs about mining disasters, ships sinking and wars probably warrant their own thread. murder ballads are big in folk and country...)

I can think of quite a few with one or two deaths at the end - Barbara Allen, William Taylor, Cruel Sister, Clerk Saunders, James Connolly, Stack o'Lee, Frankie & Johnny - but not exactly Shakespearean stuff. Where there is a large number of deaths (eg Lord Franklin, The Rising of the Moon), they're usually implied rather than described.

There's Red Haired Mary though - not a bloodbath, more a barroom brawl of a song.
