L.O.M. - I was thinking about you tonight as you seem a fan of 80s music and I'm just back from seeing Billy Ocean and Ali Campbell (UB40). My daughter (25) is a mad Billy Ocean fan so I bought the tickets for her for Christmas, thinking she would take a friend, but she took me. Billy was fabulous and, better still, we won a competition to meet him at the end of his set. After being on stage looking as sartorially elegant as Leonard Cohen, he came to meet us in an old flannelette shirt and his Rasta beret. It was nice to see him so relaxed and at ease. I think what you see is what you get - just a really nice bloke with no "side" at all. He signed a CD for us and we had a whole lot of photos taken with him. I've never been a fan of UB40 but 3000 fans were wild for Ali and his band. Good night all round tho.

P.S. While Ali has obviously been in a good paddock, Billy is as fit and trim as anything. He told us he runs every day.

Billy did "Red Light Spells Danger" but I can't tell you about the UB40 one; they all sound a bit the same to me.
