Darcy's Days
A historical fiction that depicts literature's favourite gentleman immersed in the world of 1796-1797 by the confessions of his own pen. This epistolary novel situates Darcy in the real history of England when Jane Austen first composed Pride and Prejudice. Darcy is a man of the world, a landed aristocrat with business concerns, a reader of science and literature, an advocate of revolution and the rights of man, and a citizen of a rising superpower involved in international warfare. He is also flesh and blood, and falls desperately in love with a woman of inferior birth and little beyond her wit and fine eyes to recommend her.

K. A. Newton says:
Artifice: Episode One
Rolling off his couch after a rough night, the day started off no different from any other. That is, up until John opened his coat closet and saw a dragon staring back at him.

Transported to the exotic city of Iathera, he befriends an enigmatic green-skinned woman and a wizard with a penchant for bathrobes. Deciding that a temporary change of scenery was called for, John opts to take a vacation in this bizarre land.

However, John's rest and relaxation is interrupted when news of an unprovoked attack reaches them. Having trekked across an entire ocean, the nation of Kierd has now besieged the allied Nebar Cluster.

With Kierd wielding devastating weapons never before seen in that world, the surrounding region is rapidly thrown into turmoil.

Though still unsure over why exactly he was brought there, John finds that he may hold a key in helping to understand their adversary.

Artifice: Episode Two

After being transported to a strange new world by a dragon in his coat closet, John soon found himself enraptured by this bizarre land and its host of eccentric characters. Even a shock attack on a nearby allied nation had done little to wane his enthusiasm.

Now, John must use every resource at his command to help his new friends uncover the secrets behind devastating new weapons being fielded by their enemies.

Even so, it quickly becomes apparent that everything isn't truly as it appears. Their adversaries seemingly have an agenda beyond mere conquest. With the fate of John's newfound world hanging in the balance, he and his allies must puzzle out the enemy's goals before it's too late.

Unfortnately final episode is not free but is £1-87.

Artifice: Episode Three

The invading Kierdan fleet had been vanquished, and were now in full retreat back across the sea.
Despite the victory, many questions remain unanswered. Where did they get such devastating weapons? What were they after? Who put them up to this? Why did they risk so much to apparently gain nothing?
Before the Nebar Cluster can assemble a punitive expedition, a new threat emerges. A massive floating structure has been spotted heading straight for the city of Iathera.
Duty-bound to aid their ally, the Cluster must delay any notion of retaliation, deploying their fleet to intercept the intruder.
Will it be enough?
In the face of a potential invasion, the Iatheran Intendant Yazril calls for reinforcements from the distant town of Freewater.
John, the displaced visitor from Earth, hedges their bets by constructing weapons never before seen in that world.

Reviews are quite good for all three episodes - here is a example off the third episode's cache.

Format: Kindle Edition - Verified Purchase This series is definitely different. Though I suspect it's aimed at the YA crowd. Still - OK for adults.

£6.19 per Witching Hour (Paranormal Personnel Saga #1)

Not for children this time. Sounds good so I am getting this one - as always read reviews which won't save you money as its free but may save you time by not reading it. Good job we are all different and like different things.

Second book of series - Past the Witching Hour (Paranormal Personnel Saga #2) 274 pages and costs £1-79 at the moment.

I also found book 5 of the series but this one is only 70 pages long but also free right now.

Under the Greenwood Tree, or, the Mellstock quire; a rural painting of the Dutch school 288 pages

You can also get a collection of the works of Thomas Hardy for a mere £1-83.

Delphi Complete Works of Thomas Hardy (Illustrated)

By the way this collection is easy to navigate to get to just one book. Your Kindle will remember your place in one book but if you choose to start another book in the collection it will forget where you were up to in the first.

I bought this collection early on in my Kindle days whilst looking for "Jude the Obscure" which I had bought in paperback and got lost in a family breakup. I realised I could have all Hardy's books for the price of one.
The language and content is very dated but the author was born in 1820.

I once told another book reader that I could only get halfway through one particular Hardy's book and he told me that the book had caused a scandal up and down the country when it first came out. Something about a character leaving one marital partner and living with another person. Can't remember which it was but not Jude.
