Hi Neph hope you get your Kindle back soon and that they have not gone into hyperspace.

Suze says:
I hope Meses has plenty of vimto for fuel.

Stupid spell check thing keeps wanting to change vimto to vim to.

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 14:12:41 BDT
Hippocratia says:
I've only ever seen the word vim in the phrase 'vim and vigour'; I had to look it up to check that it was a proper word.

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 14:21:29 BDT
Suze says:
I have heard the phrase but the last time I heard the word used was when I was a kid, and mum used to buy vim to clean the bath with.

scouring powder

BeeJayTee says:
Aye lad, we used to wash our hair in the that in the tin bath and Mam would give us a good scouring.
You tell that to kids today.
They'll never believe you.

Lilian says:
Most children/young people today would have a fit if they knew what we had to use for washing ourselves, hair and clothes! Who remembers a block of green soap for the clothes (no washing machine of course) Lifebuoy soap for our faces and bodies, and Derbac soap for hair (to keep the nits at bay) As well as Vim there was also Ajax, both used for scouring sinks, toilets and anything else that came within reach :-) Happy days :-)x

At least it's keeping Meses busy and out of your hair.

Lilian

Did you have a tin of Gibbs pink toothpaste as well?

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 19:00:10 BDT
I reckon this is all a cover up and this poor little Meses is in the fruit cellar just like Norman's mummy. I insist on a post from the gnome!!! to prove he is OK!!!

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 19:17:14 BDT
adds lustre to your cluster.

Doublell says:
T think for Neph's sake it's better that Meses stay quiet for as long as possible.

Jimbob says:
You can still get green soap, great stuff for. Pretty treating stains before sticking your stuff in the washing machine........ I am fully housetrained you know :-)

Hippocratia says:
Oh yes, I do remember Vim powder, but I was thinking of the word 'vim' by itself.

Posted on 22 May 2012 21:46:26 BDT
Vimto itself came from the two words vim and tonic!

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 21:48:02 BDT
Hippocratia says:
That sounds nasty, if they meant the scouring powder and tonic water. Energy tonic wouldn't be too bad.

Posted on 22 May 2012 21:50:41 BDT
I really don't think its the scouring powder!

:) I like Vimto - or non-branded blackcurrant drinks.

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 22:01:10 BDT
nephran says:
VIMTO = Grapes Hipp not Blackcurrent.

In reply to an earlier post on 22 May 2012 22:04:05 BDT
Hippocratia says:
Grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants, according to the wiki.

Revolting, according to Suze :-)
