I have a KIndle 3g paper white which I have had almost 2 years but I seem unable to get 3G on it now, has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it please?

If you are near a WiFi signal, it might not switch to 3G.
But try: air plane mode on. Restart the device (hold the power button while slowly counting to 20 seconds). Then leave it alone for 2 mins before turning airplane mode off.

Thank you I still haven't got 3G but at least now I have got wifi as you say my wifi may be over ruling the 3G . Thanks for your help

Have you gone into settings to see if you are just wifi or 3g?

The wifi network you are connected to will be overruling your 3G, best way to check is either to try it next time you are out and about, switch your router/modem off and try or go to wireless network settings on your kindle and choose forget this network (this will mean that you will need to re enter your password next time you connect it to your wifi network though)

I got annoyed with mine in work. The 3G signal was quite low, but there was secured wifi next door that it insisted it wanted to connect to.
I did ask Amazon how to over-ride this and they did give me an answer that I can't remember. I'm sure I wrote it down somewhere so shall see if i can find it.

I found it

Quote: If your Kindle does not automatically connect and you are in an area that shows as having coverage on our map, you may be able to successfully connect to Whispernet by changing the default wireless provider for your Kindle.

Visit your Kindle's Settings screen by selecting that option from the Home screen menu. When you're on the Settings screen, type eqq while holding the ALT key down.

When prompted to switch wireless providers, select "OK" to see a list of providers in your area. Please allow up to two minutes for Kindle to complete a search of available wireless providers.

Select a carrier from the list and wait for Kindle to return to the Setting screen and attempt to connect to Whispernet. If after two minutes you are still unable to connect or your signal strength does not improve, please repeat the steps above and select a different carrier from the list.

Sorry, just noticed the title is Paperwhite and not Keyboard.

I just waited on mine and it eventually connected via 3G - however, I had to turn off Airplane Mode before I went into anything that wanted a connection. If I tried to connect from a pop-up that said I needed to turn on wireless, it always went looking for wifi and wouldn't connect via 3G
