I must have missed the bit where they were library books, are those the ones you can get if you are a member of Amazon Prime? I'm not a member.

It is not worth joining Prime just for the lending library. It costs £49. a year in advance.

If you buy physical things from Amazon and you are on Prime you get most Prime things delivery free and practically guaranteed next day if you order before about 5pm. Deliveries can be Royal Mail or other carriers. The extra fee you pay for express delivery which is so much an item is chargeable to prime members but at a reduced rate.

If you are not at home every day you can plot when to order. I am sometimes out on Mondays so do not order after lunchtime on a Friday as sometimes our royal mail depot does not deliver on Saturdays.

Some third party sellers have their goods delivered by Amazon so you have to look when you buy if an item is covered by Prime also a lot of Amazon stuff is delivered free anyway.

Not all stuff is covered by Prime.

When you want to borrow a book and you are a prime member you do the borrowing through your Kindle not through the website. You can find lending library books on the website. Take a note of title and author in case there is more than one book with same title then go on your Kindle and turn on WiFi and enter the Kindle Store follow the links to the Lending Library and find your book and borrow.

You can only borrow one book a month. If it takes you longer than a month to finish reading it Amazon won't whip it away at the end of the month but you won't be able to borrow another book till you delete the first one and connect to Amazon via WiFi so your Kindle "tells" Amazon the first library book has gone.

As you can only borrow one a month I feel it is a bit daft borrowing a book under £4 or £5. There are a lot of more expensive books you can borrow. Sometimes I will borrow a less expensive one to find out what a particular author's work is like prior to buying more of his/her books.

Margaret said "I've loaded an 2 audible book I borrowed from the library on to my computer" so I assumed she meant "audio" book as you can't borrow "Audible" audio books at all.

Thanks rockhopper, this works fine and no app hunting needed.

this is a really rude post. These people have spent a lot of money & a random "it's being worked on" is rude

Why are Kindle Fire customers given such poor service by the Amazon App store? Especially when it is an App produced by Amazon.
Audible version available via google' play 1.5
Audible version available via Amazon App store 1.4.6

What are we missing with the version we have?

The release highlights (my comments)

What's new in version 1.5
* Beautiful new design (meh)
* Improved navigation (see next comment)
* Simplified library management (addition of Cloud / Device split like on the Kindle Fire apps/books etc)
* Chapter-level progress bar in the player (progress bar/slider now shows chapter progress - this I like)
* Improved stability and performance (crashes less when I use the progress bar)

And your point actually is what?
Why don't you download v1.5 and discover for yourself why Amazon still use 1.4 6.

I've just checked it out on my Asus Tablet. The cosmetic revamp I like, as it more closely resembles other Amazon apps in respect of the Cloud etc., but I can't see any difference in the progress bar and in all the time I've had my Fire HD Audible has crashed crashed just once. Perhaps I'm just lucky.

All in all, I'll look forward to the changes but, for me, there's nothing to get excited over. Like most things, some get improvements before others.

IKMP, have done as you suggested and installed 1.5 on my Fire HD. It all seems to be working fine although I had to delete the previous version first. It's not normally something I would do as the previous version did all I needed but I like having the Cloud/Device tab.

I have a similar problem. I downloaded the audiobook before I downloaded the Audible app for ipad from apple. The audiobook is in my Dropbox one of two pssible destinations I was given to choose from. How do I transfer the book to the app assuming this is possible.

Kate, that post is over 18 months old and no longer applies. At that time Audible wasn't fully installed on any UK Fire but that was changed quite soon afterwards and it's a feature accessible from the Home Screen which means you can download Audible books directly, via WiFi.
