K. A. Newton says:
Bless him.

I have no doubt everyone is sad but you must make sure that no one feels guilty about the relief they will also feel now he has passed.

Relatives of Alzheimer patients do their grieving for the "real" person they lost while the condition was proceeding.

If you knew how many widows and widowers I have comforted who were angry with themselves for feeling relief instead of sorrow not to mention their children.

I pray for you

Kath

You'll find that people who did not see him much in his later life can be a bit wearing as they will not understand.

My father appeared to everyone that all was ok. I would sit and listen to the same sentences ten and twenty times a day but he never repeated himself while others were there. They did not see the truth of the situation. Most of the time he remembered I was living with him but denied it to everyone else. He knew me till the end though, not everyone is that lucky.

My father in law was really just a shell in the end. He had no memory or recollection of anyone for many months now. He just spent his days sleeping and had faded away to a tiny waif of a man. It is such an awful illness and so sad for his devoted wife and children to watch every day while silently wishing that he would pass on yet feeling guilty at the same time for wishing it to happen.

K. A. Newton says:
If the family did their best for him, you must make sure they know they can feel relief that he reached his end surrounded by love without their feeling any guilt.

I know my father did not reach that stage he got an abdominal infection that the antibiotics did not cure. I am glad he went before a lack of dignity as a man upset him.

Please pass on my regards to the family.

New boiler being fitted tomorrow. Eric it was something to do with the pressure vessel thing, but there is also water inside it and a lot of scorch marks so it isn't safe. Another fifteen hundred quid gone :-(

x Suze, least it's being done quick, price sounds good. Specify a flush and magnetic filter.

I've gone for the same one as we had in the other house as it was a really good boiler. It will be getting done quick, my neighbour is the plumber and I knew he wouldn't let me freeze :-)). I've also offered cash which does help a lot these days.

Go on to the Gas Safe website Suze, put in the postcode of your installer, if you can't find them don't let them do the work.

Suze says:
eric, it's fine. The installer is my neighbour plumber and he has done work for me before as well as being gas safe. He's actually repaired this boiler a couple of years ago as well and hates it as much as I do.
