That's strange, every body else seems to rave over the Hunger Games. I've never read them so don't know one way or the other. It's actually a relief to hear somebody say they like something which is so popular.

I know I'm in a minority here but I really struggled with the Game of Thrones and I love fantasy books. Particularly galling as my husband and Father in law loved the series despite not being big on fantasy stuff. I just didn't engage with it at all.

Just had to read 'Pure' by Andrew Miller for my book club. While I didn't hate it, I didn't love it and would have given up if it wasn't for book club. I'm just not sure I 'got it' and Miller can waffle for England! x

Most of the Kindle books I 'buy' are freebies. I bought The Hunger Games because of it's good reviews. A waste of £2.70 IMO. I found the writing very childish, which would account for the unbelievable scenarios. I mean, who but a child would believe one could just climb a tree and go to sleep in it's branches without falling out. The book was riddled with descriptions of events that were just as silly and unbelievable.

Thanks Metier, I've often wondered about the book, but never got around to downloading a sample. I'll not waste my time on it now, as I find such things annoying. If I tried to sleep in a tree I'd end up face first on the ground pretty quickly.

It was the mayor character, can't remember what his name was, he was so evil, he wound me up too much that I couldn't enjoy the book, never experienced that before. My OH is currently listening to the audio version so I'm going to finally find out what it was all about!

metier says:
Is that a tongue in cheek remark?
As it's certainly not promoted as such.

No , I thought it was , maybe I'm wrong - I've got it but haven't read it yet , I just seemed to rember someone saying it was a children's book - maybe I'm thinking about something else , metier?
