Lady Ann says:
Can anyone help? I can't seem to download my archived items or download wirelessly from wi-fi. Have been trying all suggested on troubleshooting ie connecting via USB but have not been very successful as the menu button doesn't seem to be working either.
It's driving me nuts now.

Damaskcat says:
Have you tried re-starting your Kindle by holding the power button in the on position for a slow count of 20 and then leaving the Kindle to re-start?

ChrisJ says:
A) have you done a restart? Hold the power key for a slow count of 20 seconds. Then leave it alone for 2 mins to recover.
B) are you connected to WiFi? Can you get through to
C) is it connected to your amazon account? You may need to deregister and then restart and then re-register.

It may not be any help but try turning it off and turning it on again...might be a glitch, hope someone can help!

Restore it to factory settings? You need the settings menu, hit menu again and "Restore" or something similiar. Had to do that with mine once, because it froze the screen saver over my homepage and wouldn't go away, although the top menu bar part was showing up normally. That was the only thing that fixed it.

It will mean you'll have to add all your books again though

Suze says:
Annie, phone Amazon customer services. You might have a 'bad' book blocking the downloads. If it is that, they'll clear it for you, and then your backlog will start to download. I know this because it happened to me last year.

Cate says:
Annie, you could have a 'bad book' blocking your Kindle, as Suze says. The book will be stuck in indexing. The simple cure for this is to be a bogus search. Type in some random letters into search, something like hffgtyu - your Kindle will search for that book and then display any books stuck in indexing. Delete any offending books, this will clever your blockage.

I've been having the same trouble this evening. Did the 20 reset as advised and it came back to life. So thank you folks

Lady Ann says:
Thank you Damaskcat. It worked! Admittedly I tried it before posting on sunday but clearly did not hold down the power button long enough. I am so happy. I thought I would have to resign it to the scrap heap.
Thanks again

Lady Ann says:
Excuse my manners, thank you all for your suggestions. A customer, try the 20 sec hold on the power button. I discovered I did not slide and hold long enough.
