Hello all thought I would just ask who was reading what just now ? Ive just finished 50 shades of grey by E.l. James ......bit of a sexed up mills and boon (assuming here as Ive never read a mills and boon !) & fat girls and fairy cakes by Sue Watson...easy on the brain chick lit , and am currently about half way through The blue notebook by James A Levine ....very readable but unsettlingly sad story about present day child prostitution in India (the Author is a doctor who is giving all proceeds of the book to help missing and exploited children)
I would love to know what other people are reading just at the moment ?

I like your humour Wilber :-).

Just finished reading The Woman In Black (Vintage 21st Anniv Editions) by Susan Hill which I found disappointing - long, slow build up then Usain Bolt to the finish. Am currently reading Nightingale Wood (Virago Modern Classics) by Stella Gibbons who wrote Cold Comfort Farm - it's of it's time. Have just downloaded

The Auschwitz Violin by Maria Angels Anglada
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford
My Dear I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young
That Woman: The Life of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor by Anne Sebba
Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James

If anyone would like an "epic" to while away the hours then Ken Follett's 1200+ page Pillars of the Earth is an excellent read, I found. Harsh though it was in places.

Hoping to enjoy many happy reading hours.

Ok, let's see if I can get this right. I'm reading:

One Day in May by Catherine Alliott I tend not to go for chic-lit-type stuff, only because I just seem to be drawn more to crime / mystery, but sometimes its nice to have a change - not to mention reading something that doesn't have a huge body count! And I'm really enjoying it. I've read a few of her other books, so I knew there was a good chance I would like it.

But I've also already added the Jenny Lawson book and Mrs Robinson's Disgrace to my wish list - thanks everyone!

I used to have about three books on the go when I was a purely a treebook chick, but I'm a lot more disciplined now and tend to read one book at a time.

I recently finished Woman In Black....and I've never read such a boring book in my life!
I kept reading because I thought something was bound to happen soon.....it didn't!
I am now about halfway through The Lily Branch by Carole Pitt, and quite enjoying it, although it is populated by so many people I am getting quite confused :-) I also find it a little odd that most people are referred to by their surname, and that makes it hard to distinguish between male and female :-) Hey ho....I'll finish it, but will think twice before 'buying' this author again :-(

K. Pearson says:
I bought World without End the other epic months ago but like alot of books I download there is always something else takes my fancy. I have just read Ken Folletts Eye of the Needle and just started Night over Water. Another epic I desperately wanted was Lonesome Dove but have yet to start that.

A Visit From The Goon Squad - quite dull

Willber G you sound just like me :-) I used to have a veritable library of cook books, which I read avidly, but never used them to make anything :-)
I'm not a huge meat eater, but I don't mind an occasional steak....well grilled, served with big chips, peas and pepper sauce....yummy :-) x
