Anyone else having problems with the site? It started just over a week when there was a message saying that site was down. Over the past few days it's changed to '403 Permission Denied' when I try to open my usual a-a-j forum. .

Don't know what's going on.

T. Franklin says:
Do a google search for "403 permission denied". With luck you'll be able to find a fix for whatever is happening.

Edit: just a thought; could the site have been hacked?

The site itself has not been hacked but the forum looks like it has. Investigations into the problem are, from what I gather, now underway.

Them there jazz police engaging in some self-styled censorship perhaps ;)

Coincidentally, I think the forum crashing coincided with the death of Horace Silver.

Hope that a-a-j forums all up and running again soon as I've discovered some fine jazz on there , as well as being reminded to listen again to others.

Forum is back!

"The forum was the victim of a denial of service attack.

I'm hoping we'll remain up, and until we improve our registration security (aka CAPTCHA), we will not accept new registrations.

Also, we are one year into a four year contract with JustHost, so we plan to be around for at least another three years. So whenever there is an issue with the forum it's related to security.

We would not close the forum without advanced notice".

Of course, even Amazon software is subject to gremlins and hackers - we should be grateful when the service is running okay.

The actual AllAboutJazz site itself is still up and can be checked here
http://www.allaboutjazz.com/index.php?&width=1024
(there is a link to the forum on that page but it currently will not work)

Apparently as things stand they don't have the money to keep the forum part of the site going as no one outside of 2-3 people donate when they need to raise funds. I would like to see the forum return but even when it was up and running the amount of traffic/posters was way below what it should have been.

Thanks JP. The problem with donation-based sites is of course that they are at the mercy of their users.

It seems to be having "issues" again. Sometimes it's accessible, other times not.

Hi Buddy, a Happy 2017 to you and all posters. It is behaving for me, but of course this may not last ....
