Fellow book lovers,

I'm trying to find a book that I remember reading when I was around 16 - 18 years old. Unfortunately I don't remember what it is about. The only vague things I remember was the cover was maybe a dark/midnight blue and I think had a beach on the cover in the moonlight.

I remember it having a young boy as the protagonist and he lived in a beach house very close or right next to the beach with a difficult family home life I think something to do with his mother maybe? He loves all the shells and starfishes and stones you'd find on the beach and would take frequent walks on the beach. He likes a young girl as well who comes over to his house for I think a party or something. I think I vaguely remember he also had deep talks about the sea and sea-life and the beach and pondered on life's meaning. (Maybe discussing this with an older boy/man or professor maybe. This book I believe was fiction. Not a true story but I may be wrong here.

I'm dying to find out the author and name of this book so I can get a hold of it again! I really want to find this book and have been trying to remember the name and author for a few years now! I thought I maybe had it packed away in a box in the attic from when I moved but I've recently moved house again and couldn't find it in any of the boxes!

If any thing sounds vaguely familiar and you think you know what book I might be talking about! Please please do let me know! I'd be so grateful!

Cheers
Avid book reader!

No unfortunately not! I almost thought that was it from the cover being so similar but no luck! Thanks for helping! :)

It's not a Nicholas Sparks book is it? He writes lots of seaside type things and deep and meaningful stuff as well?
It's annoying because I feel I should know it!!

No it isn't :( I think it may be an author who isn't well known and I think the reason I managed to find it was I got it from a charity sale so it's definitely a book that was written probably in the 90s maybe! It was a beautiful book (well it was to me anyway) although I can't remember the ending of the book only the beginning. It was definitely a young boy not even in his teens yet I think who just liked escaping to the beach.

Hahaha I know how that feels feeling like you should know the book and wanting to read it! :)
