Hi
I am really enjoying the Cast series by Michelle Sagara and would be greatful if you couldgive me some suggestions for Fantasy books with a female lead. I am not really into vampires or werewolves though. Ideally it would be a complete or nearly complete series as I hate waiting for the next book and one George R R Martin in my life is enough!!!!
many thanks

Hi
You should try the Janny Wurts trilogy, Daughter of the Empire, Servant of the Empire and Mistress of the Empire. Really excellent stuff

I couldn't agree more. A wonderful trilogy. Highly recommended.

I'd also suggest The Final Empire (Mistborn book 1) by Brandon Sanderson and The Magicians' Guild (Black Magician trilogy book 1) by Trudi Canavan, but the Empire trilogy would be my first choice as well.

Only a few days to go until Cast in Peril is out- whoo hoo! In the meanwhile, you might want to try Kelly Gay's Charlie Madigan books, with the first being The Better Part of Darkness.

Charlie Madigan is a cop in Atlanta in a world which has been redefined by the discovery of parallel worlds. Heaven and Hell have came to earth officially. What starts off as an investigated into a new drug turns into a much bigger problem. Charlie has to deal with the powers she seems to be developing, discovering the truth about what happened to her a few months before while watching out for her family and friends, Emma , her daughter, Bryn her sister, Will her ex husband and Hank, her partner.

Great paced story, interesting to see the integration of mythological cultures like goblins, sirens etc being integrated into modern day Atlanta and solid cast of characters who you know are going to have recurring parts in the future. Enjoyable read overall

(Is it just me or does Atlanta seem to be the up and coming place for setting UF?- I'm sure I've come across several recently besides this series or maybe it's just the Kate Daniels association??)

I would suggest you read magianMagician (Riftwar Saga) and the following 2 books in the series before reading Janny Wurts joint contribution with Raymond E Fiest ie Daughter of the Empire, Servant of the Empire and Mistress of the Empire.
