Hi, I've just read your post, with the above Criteria The Danfians Prophecy The Danfians Prophecy ( An Epic Scifi Fantasy Romance ebook) is the right match for you...
It has a female protagonist Chloe Rose - both female and male do not trust each other as Chloe is the male lead's (Alexander's) prisoner. Promise you no tragic ending. And a second book to follow. Only available on Kindle 4*

You might try "Feast Of Souls: Magister: Book One" by C.S. Friedman. I think it ticks the boxes you're looking for, although it takes a while to become clear exactly who the primary male protagonist is going to be ...

Hi Isa, I was looking for something similar to what you're asking for after reading 'The Hunger Games', and found Fuel to the Fire, for me it has the things your looking for. Only on Kindle though.

The 3 novels by Emily Gee sound really interesting too. I'll read The Sentinel Mage and see if I like her style of writing.
I'll definitely will try The Inheritance trilogy. It sounds great and is on kindle too!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the recommendations.
I've read Touch of power, forgot to write it down. Not sure about 'A song of Ice and Fire' but The sentinel Mage sounds great!

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (Inheritance Trilogy 1) fits all your requirements I think, although it's quite different in style/tone to the other books you've mentioned. Also second the Sentinel Mage and Emily Gee's other 2 novels Thief with No Shadow and The Laurentine Spy.

You've possibly read this if you like Snyder, but:

Touch of Power (An Avry of Kazan novel)

Plus:

The Sentinel Mage (Cursed Kingdoms Trilogy)

Which might fit the bill.

There's always the series 'A song of Ice and Fire' by George RR Martin, which does from the third book on have a male and female character [Jamie Lannister and Brienne of Tarth] who start out with an uneasy relationship that develops in unexpected ways. But that's just one plot strand among many and two characters among many.

I'll see if I can think of any more.

Hello, what I'm looking for is quite specific, but hopefully there's more good novels like this out there. I'm fine with either series or stand alone novels.
The main points I want are:
-a fantasy world(magic, myths or something like that)
-a female protagonist
-the most difficult point: a good sub-plot romance where the female protagonist at the beginning doesn't like and/or trust her future boyfriend
-the reader is not quite sure if the male lead likes the protagonist for a while
- no tragic ending

Books I read like this that I loved are the Study series by Snyder, Crown duel by Sherwood Smith, the Black Magician trilogy by Trudy Canavan and Daughter of the woods by Juliet Marillier.

Any help would be great, Thanks!!!
