In no particular order:
The Dam Busters (inaccurate but very good, with a most memorable theme from Eric Coates)
A Night to Remember (that really went down well),
Went The Day Well?,
The Cruel Sea,
Enola Gay,
Mutiny on the Bounty (with Mel Gibson - a near documentary retelling of the event - highly historically accurate)
Angles One Five,
Battle of Britain (and another great score too)
Roman Holiday
AND many, many more.

329 films "recently"? Do you ever do anything but watch films??

In reply to an earlier post on 15 Jul 2012, 21:59:03 BST
Shazzerman says:
It's a little in-joke, actually. Some other posters here might get it. But you're right: I do little else these days but watch films. Makes me happy.

Shazzerman says:
"Went the Day Well?", which I saw for the second time last month, is fantastic and should be better known.

In reply to an earlier post on 15 Jul 2012, 22:15:04 BST
For a film from 1942, which is set after the war, but telling the story of one British village taken by Nazi parachute troops during WW2 it was excellent. It was shown on TV just last week and, considering it is some 70 years old, looked like it was made yesterday. It pulled no punches and told the facts as they might have been had the Germans ever got here. I urge anyone with the slightest interest in a good, well written and acted film to spend 2 hours watching it.

Were you speaking of "Went the Day Well?" or something else?

lol shazzerman!! Well done! Think this is one forum i shall not be in a rush to visit.

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Jul 2012, 06:03:39 BST
Yes, sorry, I did mean "Went the Day Well?". It really is a favourite and I watch it whenever it's on, as with all the films mentioned. I forgot to mention two other particular favourites, both from the 1940s and by Noel Coward:
"Brief Encounter" and "In Which We Serve".

Coolman says:
Greg, thanks. Have just now downloaded the entire movie from Utube and look forward to it. "Brief E" and "In Which" I already have the DVDs, although I have always found Encounter to be rather depressing.
