I think it depends on the era you grew up in...

It's gotta be Connery, with Daniel Craig a close second.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore definitely the best Bonds. Suave and charismatic. Amazing eyebrows........
(PS. I really want Hugh Jackman to be the next Bond. Or Ewan McGregor.)

sam lowry says:
Connery as the best bond(he was also first out of stables), Craig/Dalton as the "closer" in tone to Bond books, Lazenby would have been a truly great Bond, if his ego hadnt destroyed his relationship with the producers, Moore is a great bond --but reflects the period (70s), and the good times the west was having--abundant oil, wealth, and supremecy in the world, Craig's Bond now reflects the uncertainty of all the above...

Sean Connery is the best Bond, but then it depends on the first Bond movie you saw. Each actor has brought something to the role. I do like Daniel Craig as Bond I didn't think I would but I do.

I used to be a fan of Sean Connery and still think he has the best screen presence, but along came Pierce Brosnan. . . well what can I say. . . . . .simply the best!!

Tollerton says:
It depends on your age. For me, Sean Connery is the definitive Bond - unbelievably handsome and sophisticated, but ruthless -you can imagine that he could make love to a woman, then kill her if necessary - Roger Moore would never do that!

David says:
I grew up with the Roger Moore Bonds - the first Bond film I watched was The Spy Who Loved Me and was hooked ever since. So my favourite actor to play James Bond is Roger Moore.

Tim Dalton for me he was a true James Bond he was the most faithful to the books. Roger Moore was just the worst he looked too old and the films not very good. Sean Connery was good, Brosnan not bad and Lazenby OK, Craig is again more like the Bonds in the books and is doing a good job.

Balok says:
AFAIK, Ian Fleming didn't decide that Bond was Scots until Connery started playing him, which ought to count for something. AIUI, Roger "The Saint" Moore was Fleming's first choice, which is hard for me to understand, because Moore didn't really have it in him to portray the brutality just beneath the suave surface -- can you imagine Moore letting the girl get hit on the head like Connery does at the beginning of "Goldfinger"?

Having said that, for me, the definitive Bond will always be Woody Allen.

Pierce Brosnan for me, my favourite James Bond. I never read any books I just liked Brosnan's protrayal of Bond in the movies. A subtle handsome spy but also a gentleman. The BEST looking Bond.

Bauer says:
Brosnan was great but was given 2 naff Bond Movies, Connery has to be the best Bond, but the best Bond movie is Casino Royale Craig was just brilliant. Dalton was very underated, Lazenby was in a brilliant Bond movie and Moores had the best baddies!

Yep I love them all so !
