Heard nothing today and, just like their delivery service, I don't expect anything else. In the event of a miracle I will post any updates. But I'm not going to hold my breath. No longer angry. Just amazed they stay in business and more amazed people choose to use them.

I like most am a amazon prime customer on a resent order i got an email to say that it will be delivered on the next day by citylink. as with the last few parcels they have delivered it didn't arrive when it was meant to instead of been next day delivery it can the day after it was meant to. It seems to me that they only deliver parcels when its convenient for them and no one else.

Me suggestion would be only to use DPD as they provide a 1st class service unlike citylink or the other ones

Colin says:
I think it all depends where you live - ie which depot serves your area.

I have received 50% of my Prime orders via CityLink over the past 5.5 years and NEVER had a problem.
Yet recently I received 6-8 orders via DPD - all with problems. Over the past 9 months I have had my Prime membership extended for free by 8 months due to issues with DPD.

The fundamental problem with DPD out of my local depot is that their tracking shows my Prime orders only scheduled for delivery 2-4 days after the correct (required) day, even though they show the item already received in their depot. The tracking is only updated to the correct day when the email is sent with the 1-hour window, but they only send that 2 hours ahead of the window. So for a Prime delivery expected on a certain day, and finally scheduled to be delivered 16:30 - 18:30, I only receive an email around 14:30. That is the FIRST confirmation that I am going to receive my items on the correct day. AND if I have not waited in checking my email, I would not even know that. Despite my mobile number being registered, they never send a txt.
Even Yodel send txt messages now.

From MY experiences, CityLink are faultless and DPD are the worst of all the carriers.

I think Amazon have enough genuine figures to work on which is why they give Citylink a lot less than they use to. The reason why Citylink just about stay in business is they take on business that non of the really good companies want. They have to otherwise they won't have any work. I'm surprised Dpd haven't sorted out their Scottish depot by now though.

must be different problems in different areas as i have always found DPD to be on time and had no problems when ive paid for next day delivery will normally say will arrive before 1pm then in the morning sent a message with an hour slot so haven't had cause to say anything bad but waited in all day for a citylinks delivery and nothing turned up contacted amazon who quickly contacted me back and have also refunded my next day delivery cost but regarding citylinks im just wondering when it will turn up as you carn't stay in all the time in the hope they may turn up today.

Yes you can't compare dpd and Citylink. Dpd are in a different league. Yes does depend on where you live sometimes but I suspect the majority of experienced customers know that Citylink probably have twice as many problems depots and they are still losing millions.

They did the same thing for me K's,I cancelled my shift at work to wait gor the parcel at 8-9am paid for priority delivery ! No show. When I calledthey claimed they came and no one home,no delivery note either, after several arguments on the fone with different 'managers' they sent a very rude man on my doorstep !!

Same thing to me, allegedly they tried to deliver and left a card, I've been in all day and they have neither tried to deliver nor left a card... which means they will now (may be) come and try to deliver when I ask not there... then expect me to collect which is so not happening... which means a cancelled order and I'll have to back to the olden days and go and buy my laptop from a shop!

Waited in all day for a parcel yesterday. When it had not arrived by 6pm I went online to find out they had supposedly attempted delivery in the morning and left a card. Not at my address they didn't. No attempt at delivery and no card. This is the second time this has happened with City-Link. They are pathetic. I really wish Amazon did not use them.

Today, I would have received my amazon package IF I didn't have amazon prime and paid for first class royal mail, BUT alas, I had amazon prime and I picked one- day delivery and low and behold, city link didn't ring the bell or even knock, just put a card through the door and left.

Phoned up their customer service, they rather rudely told me that it would not be able to deliver it again, and I had to wait till Tuesday. They then told amazon that they would deliver it on Saturday for an additional fee (amazon paid) and so I waited in again today, and citywide didn't even put it in the van (I waited in for nothing) and I can't even pick it up today because they didn't even tell me/amazon that it was not going to be delivered today so I can't even pick it up

This is what has probably happened. Another agency driver (because hoards of good people leaving) probably forgot to put it on his van. So just rushed and put a card through (you were lucky to get that because they always run out of cards). Demoralized staff at the depot probably couldn't be bothered to find your parcel for a Saturday upgrade out of the 100's of non attempted returns in the warehouse and because it was a Friday just went home. You are not unique I promise you that.
Or you've spoken to customer services who are hundreds of miles away from the depot. They've tried to phone the depot to tell them to locate the parcel and upgrade. Everybody in the depot has just ignored the phone because it's Friday and they just know it's going to mean a bit of hassle. Manager's gone to an imaginary meeting and the shift manager's got to check his car tyre pressures. Useless, useless, useless!

I inwardly groan whenever i see either Citylink or Yodel are the couriers. In contrast DPD are brilliant. Get an hour window and you can even see where the driver is on his round.

Just been told by Amazon that they did try to deliver on sat, myself and three others were in-they defiantly didn't show and lied to Amazon, but I was told on sat that the item didn't make it onto the van, so someone lied to me! And it didn't get delivered today because they couldn't find it Saturday, but the tracking info says out for delivery today ><

i am having a nightmare with citry link they dropped a note off saying sorry we missed you. When i logged onto web site the tracking said parcel had been delivered and signed for. This meant i could not arrange redelivery nor could i talk to someone about it. Next day I come home to find another sorry i missed you note. I logged on again and it said my parcel had been delivered in Bournemouth- I live in scotland ! i then logged in again and it said it had been delivered the prev day!! tried phoning and it said we have now attempted to deliver the maximum number of times and you will have to come to carlisle 60 miles away to collect my parcel. I am absolutely incensed by the incompetence of this firm. Customer service is nil, you cant talk to anyone all automatic and as prev people have said i am not sure what there drivers get up to but its not in the slightest bit helpful. In addition they now say i need to contact the sender however they failed to put any info on the 'sorry we missed you note' about where it came from and even who in the household its for. Please suppliers do not use this company. There are much better ones out there ( except yodel who are also not great in my experience)

Interesting, I wrote a response to your "nightmare" and Amazon have refused to post it for "objectionable content"! Truth hurts?

I have had them lie to me, fail to deliver or attempt to deliver (I had CCTV evidence as well as being in on 3 attempts with witnesses) and basically they and Amazon's approach was - you can come and collect it. I cancelled the order for a laptop and bought it from a shop (much closer, no lies and deceit, and about the same price). I will now not accept any orders if delivered by citylink now - amazon's loss.

Its strange really the only companies that are terrible at delivering at the specialist delivery firms - places like tesco's, majestic etc call you up and tell you when they are coming plus give you a "window" - courier companies are just... crap!

Once again, City Link failed to deliver to me today but put a note on my account that they have tried to deliver but no one was at home and they left a card? We have been in all day and no sign of City Link or a card through our door!! I have now told Amazon I will report Amazon/City Link to Trading Standards. And this is am email address Amazon just gave me: "If you like to file a complaint, you could send your letter, as an attachment to an e-mail, to the following e-mail address: customer-attachment-requests@amazon.co.uk"

Don't worry everyone it'll all be over soon. Let them just get Christmas out the way and then goodbye Citylink. Just do not see a Citylink van around here anymore. Most of the others but not them. I don't know who gives them work at all.

Fingers crossed.

we had the same experience.......we will never purchase anything knowing they are the company that are supposed to deliver.

Barnaby Toye says:
I am furious with City Link, I ordered bunk beds for my children and was emailed with a delivery date any time from the Friday onwards, exact date to be confirmed. Fair enough. Then found a card posted through the door with "second delivery attempt" scrawled on it on the Thursday evening. So I called Amazon and they told me the final attempt would be made on Friday, I was on nights so, even though I was told that should have been the first day of delivery, I would be there, so "ok". city Link courier turns up at 10:30 with 2 headboards and 2 mattresses. "Where's the beds?" I ask. "Couldnt fit them on the van" he says. "Call the number on your Email and they'll deliver the rest tomorrow". So I called the number (a little miffed by now) and I am assured that the rest of my delivery has been moved to priority and will be there before 10:30 tomorrow. So I sit waiting till 11, phone again, and told " the bulk delivery vehicle isn't available today. Is Monday ok?!!. As I said, I am bloody angry. I can't wait in as I'm on 12 hour days that week and I can't just leave a production line. They can't give a time anyway, and I have a feeling they won't turn up then anyway. So it's next Friday now. They are useless.

Simply now punching above their weight in every way. Not enough money, not enough resources, not enough intelligent managers, poor recruitment procedures, lack of attention to detail, strategies and tactics that aren't working and now just a poor relation. All resulting in poor service and subsequently poor profits. Really did buy a pile of rubbish bc but you weren't to know.
