Russell Hobbs 30 litre White Digital Microwave With Grill And Convection Help! Just bought this and was expecting it to come with a book on how to cook things but it didn't. Does anyone know of a book or website where I can find out how to cook basic stuff in it???

But I've got the manual that came with it - just nothing to tell me how to actually cook things :s

I don't understand...sorry. If you have a manual why doesn't it tell you how to cook in it? They usually do.

It tells me how to use each function - grill, microwave or convection. But it doesn't tell me how to actually cook things, like a potato or a sausage or a chicken lol.

You've been very kind posting all those links, but it's more basic questions I need answering. Like how do I do a baked potato? How do I do sausages? Do I cover them or not? Do I do them on the turntable or take it out? Do I put them on the grill thing or on the glass thing? Etc :/

It's specific instructions for the convection and grill part that I need. And combination.

I would cover anything with fat in it because it may (will) spatter all over the inside of the microwave. I don't know what wattage your microwave is, but I would prick the scrubbed potato on both sides, put it in for about 7 min and see if it's getting tender. Depending on the type and size of potato it takes about 7-12 min. When it's getting there, take it out, wrap it in foil and let it stand for 2-3 min.

Yes but if you have a cookery book for the microwave it WILL explain all this.

The Combination Microwave Cook (Right Way S.) 1p! bargain.

I find it absurd that the instructions don't tell you how to use it?....

Hi I hope this helps...

here is the link to the actual manual!

Have fun.. I got one of these over 3 years ago and have NEVER looked back and hardly touch the oven in my stove these days.. Nothing like a crispy roast in 35 minutes!

Ah sorry, didnt see your second post...

1) When using ANY fo the grill or oven features make sure that the metal plate is down ON TOP of the glass plate. do not use any of these features without as the class plate could break.
2) When grilling, use the 'TALL stand' with whatever on top.. Grill anythingas you usually would.
3) When using as ONLY an oven: treat as any other convection oven i.e. top 15-20 degrees off any oven times (normal ovens)
4) WHen using 'auto roast' i.e. combi mode:
---- You CAN have the metal plate in (its a must)
-----You CAN have the short stand in on the metal plate (not a must but the underside gets crispy then)
-----Refer to the actual manual about sizes and types of food. Mine has auto functions whereby you can choose the food type, choose a weight and press GO.. come back later and food is served :)

That's all there is to it really!

One VERY VERY VERY VERY good tip is keep it VERy clean. i.e. after every use clean the inside... Food gets quickly baked into the sides and roof (inside) of the unit (I had this with my first).

Have fun and hope this helps :)

Ah, that's reassuring to know! That manual did come with it - I just got it today - but it doesn't seem to say how to cook actual things. I did try the potato auto program but it ended up not being properly cooked so I had to guess after that. I wonder if that auto program is microwave or convection? Because the outside wasn't crispy which was what I was hoping :/

Just read your second post - it didn't come with a metal plate??

Your second post was very helpful - thank you. I'm confused about the metal plate though?
