I am trying to find the DVD "Cold Turkey", starring Dick Van Dyke, about a whole town having to give up smoking! It is hilarious, but so far, at least on Amazon, still unavailable, I would even accept a VHS but not available either! Why are some classic comedies like this one not available!!!

NJ: Cold Turkey is available from
A new DVD is manufactured on demand when ordered and is $17.99 - about £12 or there's a new VHS for $68.25 !! - about £45 or used from $7.10 about £4.70.
If it's made on demand perhaps there's a choice of Region.

Lez Lee, thanks very much for the info. You mean Amazon US, DVD price is good. I would like to add that film to my collection so I'll give it a look. Amazon UK show it only in VHS as unavailable. I think it has a high rating in Halliwells? Well I love it anyway.

MIR Clarke, don't know if they still make VHS, I doubt that they do, but I suppose there are still a lot of unsold from the surge to DVD. I don't mind VHS, it's fine after you get used to it, and it's the content that's important to me, not so much the quality of the picture. Also tape lasts a lot longer than DVD apparently. If you have a good quality DVD/VCR recorder, when you transfer them to DVD at highest quality, it does improve the original a lot! I have transferred a lot, then I have them bothways, if the DVD gets corrupted, and they can be a bit dodgy sometimes, you've still got the original tape to record off of again.

Another great comedy film I am looking for is "Teahouse of the August Moon", Marlon Brando and Glen Ford classic, as far as I could see not long ago, unavailable on DVD or VHS. I just checked again, it wasn't available until very recently, as I've been looking. See Amazon actually do read these pages, and check Wish Lists and hey presto, they get hold of them. This is very expensive though at £35!!!!

The Choirboys, the movie based on Joseph Wambaugh's blackly comic novel about cops. NOBODY else seems to like this - the author disowned it and had his name taken off the credits! The hell with it, I like it!

Very, very late I know! - but if by chance you are still looking for Teahouse Of The August Moon? about £11.35 + free postage? -

And you can watch Dike Van Dyke in 'Cold Turkey' - albeit rather annoyingly in seven separate segments on YouTube now at - were downloaded by this user a year ago.
