Amazon Delivery Service

2) I am an Amazon Prime customer. I have had a satisfactory service for the past 13 months. My most recent order (made on 14 Dec) was available on evening delivery for £7.49 (I live inside the M25) or on expedited for free (as in stock but may take extra 1-2 days to process). Normally expedited deliveries are made by Royal Mail Special Delivery or by CityLink. This delivery was despatched on 14 Dec by Royal Mail, and I've not received it yet.
My question is - is Amazon using the weather/time of year to downgrade deliveries that would normally be next day (more costly to Amazon) to slower services?
