I am not starting a debate. I just want some feedback. Should i read this book, or find something else instead?

'Dreams From My Father' is now out in in audiobook format and read by Obama himself. It is fascinating, honest, and very well written.

Oh, go on, read "Dreams from my Father". When else are you going to read ANY politician admitting he smoked weed

Absolutely! What a terrific read. And I am not big on politics. The man is just something else and a very interesting writer as well as a good speaker.

A guest says:
It is rare for a person to write his memoirs before becoming US President; it is rarer still for such a book to be wholly written by its author, rather than being ghostwritten. There is authenticity in Obama's book, something that retrospective presidential memoirs invariably lack.

Dreams from My Father is a must read. It did get a little bit long describing the Chigaco years, but then I found out he did heaps more in Chicago than he wrote about - so he was being modest! This book is very well written, by Barak himself (usually these 'celebrity' books are written by ghost writers) which goes a long way. It is a story of his personal journey, and helps you understand the man. Excellent

Read 'Redemption Song' by Niall Stanage for an inside account of the Obama campaign.

I have read both Obama books and enjoyed both of them especially 'Dreams..' however the book recommened above is excellent.

Absolutely, it is well-written and kept my attention. The search for a sense of identity, locating one's place in the world and more importantly understanding the importance of community are central themes. I read his next book straight after!

Yes, most definitely - he's had much more of a life already than his youthful looks imply. The book raises many issues and is well written.

Definately a must read! I couldn't put it down. Parts of it made me laugh, parts made me cry but overall it made me realize what an incredible life Barack Obama has lived and what has shaped this incredible man and leader. He writes with honesty and, as it was written before he entered into politics there is no hidden agenda intended to win him votes or enhance his public life. It is also an audio book recorded by Obama himself - beautiful!!
