However, I can't fault the cable so far, especially at this price! I placed the order last Thurdsay and received it on Tuesday, well within the 3-5 days delivery as specified. It was well packaged and I plugged the HDMI cable end in to my Dell XPS 1530 laptop and the DVI cable in to my HP monitor and was well impressed with the picture. I'd previously been using a standard monitor cable from my laptop to my monitor and that was not sharp and there was visible electrical interference. This, however is crystal clear, bright and sharp, with no inteference. The cabling is thick, stiff and well protected, the whole cable looks well made and built to last.
I should note that I had some difficulty in attaching the cable to my monitor - not because of the cable - but because the design of the monitor only allows cables with a certain plug casing height and it was very tight to fit this because the height of the plug (from the gold socket part to where the cable breaks out) is just over an inch and strangely my monitor, due to the positioning of the DVI socket close to the protruding plastic where the stand attaches, it is a very tight space.
I would highly recommend this cable and the company. It gets 5* for the great value and speedy delivery.
As described, the item is a HDMI to DVI-D cable. 2 meters in length. I used the cable to connect my PC to my old monitor that did not have an HDMI input connection. Originally I was using an HDMI cable, but due to my monitor failing I had to use an older monitor that did not have an HDMI port, and this cable works fantastically for connecting the two. The HDMI connection plugs directly into my graphics card in my PC (running a Gigabyte HD 7850 2GB OC Edition for reference) and the DVI-D connection into my monitor. Upon connecting the two I flicked the switch and it worked. No problems with setup at all.
Not sure if there is much else I can say about the cable. Great in almost all aspects. I say almost all, as I have a small issue that I'm not sure if it's down to the cable or my graphics card. My monitor supports up to 75hz, but for whatever reason I can only select 60hz. Now, as I said this could be down to my graphics card, I'm not sure, but I thought I would list that here just in case.
TL;DR
Great cable. Works as you would expect it to. Is as described. PC HDMI to monitor DIV-D works perfectly. Setup was a breeze. Only possible issue about the cable is that it may not support higher than 60hz (though, as stated it may be my graphics card).
Just in case you might be wondering about the specifications for my PC, here they are:
Intel® Core i7-2600 - QuadCore
16GB (4x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz,
128GB SSD + 1,5TB HDD 7.200rpm SATA
Nvidia GTX560Ti 1.28GB
(DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP)
DVD Super-Multi DRIVE DualLayer 16X SATA
Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100/1000 Mbps
802.11 b/g/n, HD Audio with 5.1
Card reader, USB Keyboard and mouse
8xUSB 2.0, 2xUSB 3.0, Headphone and
Microphone line out jack
picture quality is good. Cable is reasonably long. I've used it for a few months now, frequently swapping between ps3/xbox and still working fine.
DVI doesn't transfer any audio so I use the standard composite cable (red, white, yellow) and just plug in the red and white ones into external speakers to get sound as well.
When using the ps3 you just go into setup and you can adjust audio/video output, so you get video from the hdmi_to_dvi and the audio from the composite.
With the 360, its a bit trickier. (not recommended for most users) The supplied cable has a chunk of plastic to stop you plugging in the hdmi at the same time. This can be solved by taking the plastic shell of the end of the cable. However if you plug both in, the xbox will keep restarting itself. You can stop this by using a small amount of tape to cover a specific connector in the plug.
