Product description

Cameron Colley (Jonny Lee Miller) is a local journalist who also champions the underdog, exposing corruption wherever he finds it. However, when a serial killer begins targeting many of those exposed by Colley - including an arms dealer and a bent brewery chief - the writer finds himself suspected by friends and police alike of being the murderer. It is now up to him to find and expose the true perpetrator before it is too late.

Another Se7en or Tightrope
I was hoping to see something new in this film, this being an adaptation of a well-liked novel (I haven't read it myself) but during the viewing I began to sense that I had seen this somewhere before. Then it dawned on me that it was very similar to Se7en, in which certain people known to the main character meet untimely deaths in a sort of poetic justice manner; for instance an arms dealer is "disarmed" in a brutal fashion. Also similar is the way the main character takes the blame because the real killer can come and go without anyone seeing him. Films in a similar vein are The Hitcher and Tightrope.A story which has its roots in a childhood incident, the present scenario relies too heavily on implausible coincidences to move the action along; the killer can set up his killings by seemingly knowing what people will think and do, rather like the old Mission Impossible TV series. I will leave other people who have read the book to decide if this was an accurate adaptation. In my opinion, it was an OK film for an evening's viewing. Extras on the DVD are a 21 minute feature, The Story of a Journalist, and a Trailer.
