This is basically a review of the season 1999/2000- as simple as that.
Only of interest to Leeds fans it charts from pre-season to the West Ham match where all the seasons hard work qualified the club for the Champions League. It covers all the aspects and players but is often disjointed and repetitive. The shadow over the season was obviously the events in Turkey and Peter Ridsdale input to the whole incident is informative and heartfelt. As is the insight to the Hasselbaink transfer.
Written by Don Warters who was reporter for the Yorkshire Evening Post for many years - he is certainly the best man to chart the season.
For Leeds fans this is a 5 out of 5 book - but for any other fans I would imagine a 2 or 3 really.

This book is a must have for every leeds fan out there. It is a behind the scenes account of a remarkable season that saw the team reach the semi finals of the UEFA cup. Packed full of stories and facts from a glorious season it is a journal of a remarkable achievement. Fans are able to read of the humorous exploits of the players off of the pitch (the Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink incident had my sides splitting) and learn of the top pranksters. The book also looks at the views of team manager David O'Leary and his assistant Eddie Gray allowing for further insight into the club. On a rather sad note, it must be remembered that this is the season where two leeds fans, Kevin Speight and Christopher Loftus were tragically murdered in Istanbul prior to the game against Galatasaray. The book pays respect to the memory of these two men. With the rollercoaster emotions of a season that saw a great achievement of the young side this book is one of the best accounts around.

I was extermely dissapointed by this book. It read like a warm and cuddly version of the 1999-2000 season and left me wanting to know more. The book was written in a sycophantic... I really would have liked to get a detailed analysis and the other side of some of the issues. Only read this if you find that you need to read anything and everything about the club.
