Took along time for this to reach me but worth the wait. Next time I build my own house I will probally go down this route as I like the part about a living house. This day and age where house's are cast in concrete and sealed and have no character, not healthy to live in etc(I have lived in a concrete bunker in Austria), plus I like the part about cheap cordwood. Excellant book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book for cordwood beginners

If you are completely new to cord wood building and want to know how to start from step one, this is your book. Very well written, layman's terms which I love and almost written like a conversation which makes for interesting reading and not just boring facts. Any questions you have about cord wood building, prep, materials and anything cordwood will be addressed in this book. Well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars built my first cordwood building!
Reviewed in the United States on 26 November 2012
This book gives you all the "how to" that you'll need. I'd never built anything before, but using this book alone I pulled off building an 11 ft diameter, 6' high with a slope, circular cordwood chicken coop that is the envy of all my friends and neighbors... and I'm just a small 5' female. The coop cost me under $300 and is awesome. The thing that I like most about this book, besides the step by step, uncomplicated guidance, is that the author is very creative and open to the many ways to accomplish a task. There is no "right" way. And just to grasp his philosophy on cordwood building is to grasp the essence of living your life. Brilliant on many levels. If you want to build something awesome, get this book. If you want to live your life awesome, apply this book.

Definitely has a lot of information in the book. Easily worth the price to buy new in my opinion. Gives details on foundation and different construction techniques. Including structure of walls, masonry, design and heating based on climate in which you live.
