As mick jones went past Peter Simpson, he tumbled over arsenal keeper Geoff Barnett.....unbeknown.he dislocated his elbow.......as a six year old watching this my first ever sight of football,I thought all this drama was thrilling..he was covered in bandage, and taken to see the queen.....I thought this guy must be brave...wow what a hero..the queen asked to see him...this iconic moment along with that goal by Clarke..way back in 1972,,,,,will forever define my love for that super leeds team. I had already read sister book sniffer by the same author David Snaffergreataswell.....the thing I like about these books is the quotes by the newspapers of the day....which give greater credit for the greatness of leeds than history has rewritten or forgotten!!!!!Frank McGhee of the mirror could not think of a better club side in post war football.'leeds are in grave danger of being more admired, acclaimed and loved more universally than this much-maligned team would have dared to dream a few years back'.this is a great book about a player that took a bit of stick as his type of player..was a true team player, and fans sometimes ignore how important such a player is to its greatness! Great to read he is a humble family man who got on with his life......as a six year old I think I read him right....a true hero...

I remeber the day Mick signed for Leeds for £99,000. I was still at school and he soon became one of my heroes, along with a dozen others who were regular first teamers at Elland Road. In May this year I went to an event in Leeds, billed as An Evening with the Legends of Leeds United from the Don Revie era; it featured five of my heroes from United's dream team of the 60's and 70's, Eddie Gray, Norman Hunter, Peter Lorimer, Johnny Giles and Paul Reaney. Right at the end of the show Mick came on stage with his arm in a sling carrying the FA Cup; a mickey take on the fact that he dislocated his shoulder during the 1970 cup final against Arsenal, a game that I was lucky enough to have seen live.
