Being an avid Leeds fan i couldn't resist purchasing this book to read about the inside life of one of our greatest sons. "Batts" Tells his story in the same manner as he plays his football, which gives an eye opening insight into his life as a youngster in Leeds to a full England International. The humorous tales of kangaroo courts as a young apprentice at Leeds and his escapades with his team mates throughout his years as a professional footballer which took him from Leeds to Blackburn and from there to Newcastle before returning to his hometown club of Leeds. He also writes about his life outside of football. His love for his family and motorbikes! Plus his feelings on his move from Leeds, his infamous penalty miss and the injury that could have cost him his life. This book kept me hooked for hours and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it made me laugh and see a different side to one of England's finest players in the modern game.

I'm not really into reading but as I passed a book shop and discovered David Batty was signing copies of his book, i felt the need to meet him as a Leeds fan, I also felt obliged to buy a book. I'm glad I did I couldn't put it down from start to finish. It includes stories of his childhood growing up in Leeds, to the late night pranks with Vinny Jones, his confrontations with managers & his England career, interests outside football and career threatening injuries. I recommend this book to any Leeds fan or football fan in general, even if reading a book normally seems like hard work to u. Give it a Go.

A book I could not put down, David shares his life from the first stages of his life until the present day. David talks about how his dad wrote about each performance he made on the field criticising him and hailing him as one of the best midfielders in the country when in his prime.
5 stars and a book any genuine Leeds Utd fan would love to read.

David Batty - one of the Leeds Greats? Certainly in my generation. As a 30 year old Leeds fan all my life, David Batty is Leeds through and through and its with a sense of profound nostalgia that I read and finished this book in one day. I enjoy football literature and autobiographys and I do read books from players at other clubs (yes I have even read Fer**sons - and enjoyed!) But when a player with so much to say and from your own club it does add a biased view to it.
For a non - Leeds fan this is a warts n' all account of a true English midfield player. Focused, Difficult but so very much a down to Earth 'family man'. Many an interesting tale to tell and goodness knows what other supporters will make of his Wolves anecdote.
Leeds fans - This is a must read. David takes us on a trip down memory lane and his uneasy time with Wilko. He doesn't shirk the issues and is candid about his current position and injury nightmares of the past couple of years. And also is quick to address his lack of goals - although I am lucky enough to remember all his Leeds goals and was there at Maine Road for his first Leeds goal.
I really enjoyed -- As a Leeds fan I would give it full marks. For non- Leeds fans I would still give it a 4. And thats not been TOO biased!

This is a good read, the Leeds lad in a topsy turvy world of soccer. To the point, no nonsense style. Nice to see the world of the so called priveliged soccer idols, but in truth his early years were hard fought, an insight into his private life, with wife Mandy and sons, his escapades with fellow professionals, his on/off pitch battles all thrown into the melting pot." Got to have" type of book, so go get it, you wont be sorry!!
