Francis Wheen has produced a book which is far from shallow, as may be incorrectly inferred from the cover. Whilst I expected it to focus on religion, homoeopathy, and other nonsense it is in fact about politics, philosophy and society as much as these things.
There is some truth in the negative reviews here, in that Wheen does seem to overstep the mark just occasionally and take a more extreme view than may be justified by the facts, but I can't blame him for holding views.
All in all, an excellent book. Although slightly dated now, it does serve to give some historical perspective on the Thatcher/Reagan and surrounding eras and the rather silly influences courted by our political leaders.
