Product Description

Professional Indoor Photography Tent (50x50x50cm)

The eSecure 50 x 50 x 50cm Professional Indoor Photography Tent is an essential accessory in creating high quality digital photos.

  • Ideal for amateurs and professionals, online sellers, photographers and collectors
  • Ideal for shoots featuring highly reflective objects such as silver and glass

How it works?

The Photography Tent filters light to prevent shadows and reflections on shiny objects, creating a clean professional backdrop to all items.

Lighting

Suitable to all light sources including:

  • Daylight
  • Household lamps
  • Photographic daylight emulation lighting
  • Flash, fluorescent, tungsten, flood lights and quartz

Features

  • Four background cloths (Black/White/Blue/Red) can cover the back and floor of the tent
  • These backgrounds are held in position with Velcro fasteners and provide a choice of non-reflective 'infinity backdrop' colours for your objects
  • A spring wire supporting frame sewn into the light tent fabric allows the pop-up tent to be folded flat, within its carrying bag for easy cube storage and great space saving

Recommendations

We recommend upon receiving the nylon backgrounds to steam iron these through a tea-towel to get a crease-free background

The product was delivered on time and well packaged. It is surprising how big this box actually is considering the small size of the packaging - credit to the creator for making it so robust and easy to carry.
I have used it for some product shots but have so far not been able to achieve the all round smooth lighting effect without blowing out the highlights. When I turn down the intensity of the strobes to manage them, the walls of the box become visible with their wrinkles which is bad for the photo. I have tried putting seamless paper at the back wall, and that helps greatly though.
The provided color backdrops are no good because they are too wrinkly themselves to provide a smooth surface. I did not risk ironing them out as they appear to be made of nylon and might deform under the heat.
I have deducted 2 stars for the above stated reasons only. Anyone considering this review should understand that there is a huge possibility that I have not been able to use this product CORRECTLY (user issue) which is why I am not satisfied with the lighting.

I bought this to use for photographing wine bottles using studio flash units as the light source. Worked well BUT the problem is that the background pieces are packed folded flat and being nylon ( I assume ) when opened out they have very distinct creases in them which are almost impossible to get rid of without a lot of work. The best method seemed to be to spray the crease with a mixture of water and vinegar and then steam iron them out but it is not 100% successful. One other point, not a major problem if you have used this sort of kit before but there were no instructions of any kind with it.

I have been wanting a light tent for ages and at last the right size came along at the right price too.
Ignore the comments about the creases, its nylon its collapsable what do you expect !
I placed a plate with a bowl of boiling water on top of it inside and closed the tent and the creases on the walls disappeared. I ironed the the backdrops with a cool iron.
A small time spent on something most people are not going to use every day.
As for folding....what a bunch of softies complaining they could not fold it back in again.
Fold the large side wall flat to the base of the other wall and fold that wall flat too.
Hold it up with a hand on either of the long side ends and twist one hand in and the other out and pull towards yourself. Easy Peasy. I did it is seconds and I'm a girl, why some men had to go online to find the solution makes me laugh.

This item arrived very quickly. It was true what all the other reviewers said - it does spring from the package when you unwrap it but I was prepared for this ! I actually ironed the whole thing on a cool setting to improve the background appearance, and I also ironed the seperate inserts. I probaly won't use the coloured ones as I need white backgrounds for all my photos.
It's not brilliant but it's probably the best product around at a very good price if you want to photograph smallish things. I use it for handbags and shoes and it works fine.

After many years of considering buying the Photo Studio Light box I eventually made up my mind to invest in one and I am glad I did. I had a job to photograph food for a web site and customers menu's It was ideal, easily transportable ideal for diffused lighting just the right size for this type of work. I have used it several times since and would definitely recommend it for product photography

I have had this light tent and the backgrounds for over a month now. The light tent is easy to open and set up. But it is the putting it back into the pouch that is a real pain. There are youtube videos that explain how to do this, but it still isn't simple. There is a thick metal wire that runs around the 4 borders of the tent and the metal is moulded into a small loop at the end of each wire into which the wire is supposed to slide in when you close the tent to fit it into the pouch it came in. I managed to get the wire out of this loop and then it took a lot of effort to get it back into the loop again - I've since given up trying to fold it back into the pouch it came in. Though it does fold into a square shape which sits at the back of the closet wall.

The backgrounds are the real sore point of this product. They come folded in the packing and to get the creases out is probably the hardest thing you will do. I tried ironing out the creases and it took me around an hour to finish (One side of the background is nylon, so you have to be very careful while ironing out the creases). But if you plan to do close-up or macro photography, I can tell you that the camera would still pick up those creases. Someone suggested dripping the background wet and hanging it to dry to get rid of the creases. I did that on the black background and the colour started coming out and the bath tub and bathroom floor were full of black drops - something that the wife did not find amusing at all. Well with the black background dripped and hung to dry, the creases are still visible.

All in all, not too happy with this purchase. If you are happy to spend some time in post processing, trying to get rid of the creases in the background and have space to store a huge square against one of your walls, then you can buy this. But if you plan to carry this around, I would suggest - avoid it.
