Can the Sony PLAYSTATION 3 play DVDs from the USA?

Posted on 30 Apr 2009, 09:54:54 BST
A UK PS3 will NOT play DVDs from the US. UK DVDs are Region 2 while US ones are Region 1. Unless you make your PS3 multiregion, and I'm not entirely sure how to do that, the answer is no. This applies not just to the PS3, but with all DVD players in general. Some DVD players have a numeric code which you enter to unlock them, others can be bypassed via infra red remote control which some companies send out, just to unlock the region coding. Hope that helps!

Michael Wood says:
All PS3s are already region free.
But in response to the original question, I'm not sure about DVDs. Games from the US will work though.
