Buying NVMe is a no-brainer, actually. Just select the one tolerating power loss (Power Loss Protection) and having high endurance (around 600TBW "TeraBytes Written" per 1TB capacity). Performance is secondary - they all are quite fast, just check the "generation" of the PCIe slot on the computer (gen 3 since 10 years ago, gen 4 recent models). In absence of a small M2 slot on the motherboard an adaptor to a large PCIe x4 or x16 slot will be required.

Old computers may or may not take NVMe in their PCIe x4 or x16 slot, which necessitates testing, and many of them may refuse to boot from NVMe due to BIOS limitations. One can still boot from a traditional SATA or USB drive, while having the system on NVMe. This is handled automatically with Linux, contact the help desk if using microsoft or Mac.

Western Digital SN770 1TB belongs to the list of good drives (gen 3-4). It is also inexpensive and fast. The list also includes Samsung 970 Evo Plus (gen 3), 980 Pro (gen 3-4), etc. The other make to look at is Sandisk, whose chips are used in SN770.

I purchased this drive as an external M2 drive which I use with the ACASIS Thunderbolt enclosure and MacBook Pro 16 (Intel and M1). This couple works really fast. I have over 2.4 GB/s write speed and over 2.6GB/s read speed.

I use the drive for my photography stuff (Capture One + Raw + JPEG collection). During relatively heavy loads it does not get very hot, like Samsung drives. I have only been using it for about a week, but I like it very much so far. If anything happens, I will update my review.

Así que usara el ram de tú computadora. Así que sí tienes RAM de sobra. Este es un excelente producto. De igual manera es mucho más rápido que cualquier HDD.
