The three-CD box set contains ‘The Woman In Me’ remastered plus 16 previously unreleased tracks, including five live performances recorded in December 2019 during Twain’s residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, and an entire “Shania Vocal Mix” containing early takes of 11 songs from nearly a year before the album’s release. In addition to the five Las Vegas performances, the “Live & Remixed” disc, features two tracks recorded in September 1998 at Dallas’ Reunion Arena for the ‘Shania: Live’ DVD, plus original single mixes, b-sides and bonus tracks. Contained in a 40 page hardback commemorative book with previously unseen photos, new liner notes and personal recollections from Shania Twain, who personally curated the release

    THE WOMAN IN ME war Shaniah Twains zweites Album und kam 1995 heraus und legte die Grundlage für einen bespiellosen Erfolg der Solo Künstlerin. Es war seinerzeit das erfolgreichste Country Album bis dahin und verkaufte sich alleine in den Staaten über 12 Mio. Mal. Das Nachfolgealbum COME ON OVER (1997) toppte den Erfolg und ist das erfolgreichste Album einer Solo-Künstlerin aller Zeiten. Mit „UP“ (2002) gelang Shaniah Twain erneut ein Megaseller, der sich bis heute alleine über 11 Mio. Mal in Amerika verkauft hat. So ist Shaniah Twain die einzige Künstlerin, die mit drei aufeinander folgenden Alben in den Staaten den Diamanstatus (10 Mio. verkaufter Tonträger) erreichen konnte.

    THE WOMAN IN ME brachte Shaniah Twain sechs Nr. Hits in ihrer Heimat Kanada ein. Vier Songs wurde Nr. 1 der Country Charts in den USA. Kaum zu glauben aber wahr: Shaniah hatte in den Staaten in den Billboard Single Charts keinen einzigen Nr. 1 Single Hit. Es gab etliche Top-Ten Hits, aber keine Nr.1 Single. Dafür verkauften sich die Alben wie warme Semmeln. Das Album selbst war nur Nr. 1 in Kanada. Erst mit CON ON OVER, UP und NOW (2017) folgten auch Nr. 1 Alben in Amerika und anderen Ländern.

    Nun wird das Album zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum mit einem neuen Mix neu aufgelegt. Es gibt zwei Versionen:
    • 2CD Deluxe Diamond Edition
    • 3CD Super Deluxe Diaond Edition Box
    Ich habe mir die 3CD gekauft, die auf CD3 einen „Shaniah Vocal Mix“ enthält, die ein Jahr vor Erscheinen des Albums von Shaniah eingesungen und aufgenommen wurde.
    Die Box ähnelt aufgeklappt einem Buch. Die äußeren Innensleeves beherbergen die 3 CD’s. In der Mitte ist dann das 48-seitige Buch, fest gebunden mit der Box, in der Lyrics, Liner-Notes, Fotos und ein Essay von Pop-Journalistin Eve Barlow enthalten sind.

    Beim Vocal Mix ist nur die Stimme von Shania zu hören, ohne Chorbegleitung. Shania pur quasi. Einen großen Unterschied zur regulären „Albumstimme“ von Shania höre zumindest ich nicht wirklich heraus. Den Songs fehlt ohne Chor aber schon etwas Glanz.

    Da der Preisunterschied zur 2CD nur 5€ beträgt und mit dem Buch zusätzlich ein erheblicher Mehrwert gegeben ist, empfiehlt es sich gleich die 3CD Version zuzulegen. AutoRip ist bei der 3CD Version nicht dabei.

    Die Kombination aus Country/Pop & Rock gefällt mir persönlich megamäßig. Die Musik ist einfach top. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist bei diesem Re-Release mit Bonusmaterial absolut OK. Fünf Sterne für die Musik und auch fünf Sterne für das Gesamtpaket.
