Nice finish, good quality

Nice finish, good quality
Looks and feels great, packaging was very sleek. I am using it with the double basket that came with my Sage Barista Express and felt a difference in the cream I’m getting. It also looks better as the coffee pours. However, I did notice that the Sage basket doesn’t fully lock in and it needs to be pushed back in. I have not used it with its original basket. The portafilter fits into the grinding slot of a Barista Express

I have a Breville Barista Express with the 54mm basket. I always got frustrated that the standard basket traps 2-3 mL of water on the inside whenever you rinse it - which then contaminates the next brew.

Firstly, it's worth saying that it functions as expected. Fits the Breville perfectly. Nice smooth finish on the handle. Sturdy, but not super heavy. Tamping is easier as the bottom surface is completely flat. Brewing is very similar to the standard portafilter, so your coffee doesn't need re-dialling in. If anything, I find the naked portafilter slightly easier to get consistency and gives marginally more crema.

However, this went beyond expectations once I realised it could also give me extra feedback on my puck prep. You can see the coffee exit on the bottom of the puck, and see specific areas that are over/underflowing. It's nice to directly see if there's channelling or uneven tamping. Don't think I could go back

Bought this for my breville express and I am delighted to say it is fabulous, it's almost a work of art and is so easy to use, it is definitely better than the original and now my coffee is better. A very good investment it is solid and well made with a beautiful wooden handle. I've always enjoyed my Coffee but this has taken my Coffee making to the next
    degree.
Very fast delivery and well packaged for the journey.

I have a Sage Barista Touch, for some reason Breville (Sage in UK) decided to go with 54mm porta filters instead of industry standard 58mm size. Bottomless porta filter made a great difference in coffee quality compared to a standard 2-spout one, which is included with the machine. It is much easier to clean and also with the same settings it is not sour anymore, it means that the coffee is more extracted. After a couple of weeks of getting a bit frustrated I got the coffee I really wanted eventually and it is also fun to watch it! However, it seems a bit more messy as it tends to splash around more on the coffee machine for the first few seconds when it is being extracted. I can highly recommend this product, very useful and can make a difference.

The what seems to be aluminium frame cracked in half and the wooden handle split - ended up in a bin

    -----

As much as I want to like the bottomless, this one is not as good as I would hope. If you want coffe all over the place that's fine but I have stopped using it.

The filter is not as good as your original one and yes you can swap it no problem but it's super hard to remove it and you need to use some knife to pull it out for cleaning.

It's a bottomless portafilter, it does exactly what it says. I replaced the filterbasket that came with that for the one my Barista express came with so cannot comment on the included basket. Having one of these will allow you to find potential issues with you espresso shot such as channeling. And also makes it look prettier for pictures. No reason not to buy this.

My only complaint is that it's a little on the light side, especially in comparison to the origional portafilter that came with my barista express.

Had to return this straight away as the filter basket was jammed in so tight it was impossible to get it out without using something like a screwdriver or knife blade, which I wasn’t prepared to do on something that had only just come out of the box!
That was a shame as the thing looked nice, seemed well made & would have been good value.

In purchas9this product I did expect it to feel cheap but the handle is very well made. However the portafilter itself does match my expectation. Its chipped and poorly chrome plated that it feels like a toy. How they have managed to mix a quality feeling handle with a shoddy metal end is beyond me. Shame as I only really wanted the metal part for a project. Going got have to look elsewhere. Looks as if all the focus is on the handle feel and not the business end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Teil
Reviewed in Germany on 3 November 2020

4.0 out of 5 stars Gute Qualität aber knifflig einzustellen
Reviewed in Germany on 28 December 2020

3.0 out of 5 stars Scam, you are getting a cheaper holder!
Reviewed in Germany on 23 November 2020
I chose this portafilter for the fact that the wooden handle is more protected from the hot water when you wash it, even though it was almost twice as expensive as the alternatives. This is achieved by having a detachable head which is in turn screwed into the metal and the wood is not directly exposed on the side.

BUT, in fact I HAD RECEIVED THAT CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE which is exactly what I wanted to avoid by paying double the price! See the pictures (received vs. ordered).

Apart from that the filter sits too tight, you need to work your way with the tools to loosen the spring if you want to wash the filter properly.
