I don't get what people are complaining about. It works fine, it's not the original official one I use to have, which my ex stole, but its brilliant. The buttons work fine, there is no need to press them hard or anything, certainly not any harder than the official one. But hey if you want to pay £99 (at time of writing this) for a remote for a £200 console, good ahead.Ok the back lights don't stay on for very long, but even in the darkest of rooms the light from the TV should help you see them, unless your blind? It worked straight out of the box, came with batteries which is a big plus nowadays. Controls my TV without pairing or lag. Doesn't need a kinect, as I don't have one anymore (as that was also stolen). Feels nice to hold, it has a nice almost soft rubber feel to it.I don't see any need for the numbers at the bottom, but I'm sure they were put there for some reason but it's not like that effects the remote or anything.Having the A/B/X/Y buttons is awesome, it allows you to use stuff like quick search and see all offers in the Xbox store menus etc. Definitely a one up on the official remote.Overall it's brilliant, I use it for Disney+ mainly as my TV has Netflix and Prime 4K built it, just no Disney+.

I bought this for my Series S and it worked straight out of the box. I have had no problems with sticky buttons and I am impressed overall with the build quality of the remote. It does have a premium feel and I do appreciate the backlight feature while I learn where all the buttons are. In terms of size, it is about the size of your regular TV remotes. If you are using the console to watch media this will make life much easier and also more importantly preserve the charge on the controller. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

As with the original Xbox Media Remote, you need a Kinect to control your TV volume. I had an original remote for many years until it wasn't usable anymore - the rubber cover came off completely!

Positives:

- Equally quick to setup - put in the 2 x AAA batteries, and it works immediately with Xbox One and TV (with Kinect)
- All the same buttons and features as the original + more now available like the X, Y, A and B buttons. Very handy to have as some apps need those buttons to access other features.
- Materials feel good - matte finish around and slightly rubberised back. Lightweight but not like a toy.
- The backlight is motion sensitive.
- Button presses are nicely damped and react well (more on that below).

Negatives:

- The biggest issue is that the IR blaster isn't as strong as the original remote, which you could use from most angles. Seems like this remote needs more direct line of sight with the Xbox or TV it's controlling. I need to test it out more, but compared to the original - it was the first thing I noticed.
- The back is not rubberised as much as the original - so it will slide around.
- The backlight is not sensitive enough to turn on. Sometimes picking up the remote doesn't turn the backlight on, but giving it a quick shake will turn it on.

Overall though - given the original remote is now discontinued, and steadily becoming unavailable / overly expensive (£40 now!) - this is a great alternative, with very little compromise.

I was dubious this would work but I've had it a couple of months and it's still working.

Two things to note - It will NOT work if you don't point it at the Xbox, you can press the buttons as hard as you like but it won't work if it's not got line of sight to the console. The other is that the volume and some of the other buttons do not work, despite following numerous tutorials. Also worth noting that the ffwd buttons don't necessarily work with all apps i.e. Disney+. Netflx, Prime etc which is what I assume what most people are using the remote for - You need to press the middle (round) button to pause and the outer edges to ffwd/rewind etc.

I love this remote, bought it for use with my 1st Gen Xbox One, worked with my Xbox One X, worked with my Mates One Series S and Tried it last night with my Series X. Rating this as best purchase as an Xbox accessory.

Great battery saver for your controllers if you use your xbox for apps such as Sky, Disney+, Apple TV etc. Works very well. I havent been able to figure out how to adjust the volume, perhaps my tv isnt compatible with that feature. It has a very nice design and the backlight really helps when its dark, the design also matches the sleekness of the Xbox One X and Xbox Series X alike and its great as its compat with the new console as well.

I love the idea of this. It was given as a Christmas gift as my son uses his Xbox for much more than just gaming he is happy with it but he said the buttons stick a lot. I am hoping this eases off over time. It looks very nice but now I’ve seen it in action I think it’s a little on the pricey side

Update: lasted only 7 months and its stopped working. Thought the batteries were just low as when I press a button it lights up but nothing happens. Put new batteries in made no difference.

Love it. Its so much easier than dropping an xbox controller flat on your face (which is heavy may i add) makes life more relaxed because you can lay in bed just press the remote like any other remote and not even feel your on the xbox.

My girlfriend loves this remote. I moved my Xbox One X to the bedroom after I upgraded to the Series X and she had the hardest time with a remote and controller. This remote works perfectly so you only need the one remote.
