Product description
Album issued in CD for the first time. Includes major chart hit, 'It Meik'.Many tracks unavailable for decades. Making his mark on the international recording scene with a series of global hits in the late Sixties and early Seventies, Desmond Dekker enjoyed success on a scale no other Jamaican act had experienced. So in 1972, when the singer left the world's leading reggae record company, Trojan Records, to join the newly launched rival Creole, the move sent shockwaves through the UK's music industry. In response, Trojan gathered some of the singer's biggest hits alongside rare and previously unreleased material from the archive, which they issued on the aptly-titled double LP set, "Double Dekker". Much to the chagrin of Creole, the collection swiftly became one of Trojan's biggest selling long players of 1973, its release eclipsing the singer's recently recorded work for his new label. Now, 45 years after its original release, "Double Dekker" is finally available once more, with the track-listing augmented with six rare bonus tracks. Avoiding any cross-over of material with companion volumes, "You Can Get It If You Really Want" (DBCD015) and "Action! & Intensified" (DBCDD025), the collection ensures Desmond Dekker's entire Leslie Kong-produced rock steady and reggae output is available for the much-missed performer's fans.

Sean G.Reviewed in the United States on 16 February 20205.0 out of 5 stars Another great release from Music On Vinyl
I bought this based on my experience with other releases from Music On Vinyl, and it doesn't disappoint. It is a quality pressing of some great reggae music. Like all their releases, it comes in a poly protective envelope and a gatefold cover. The record liners are paper with poly inside to reduce static and dust. \
Right out of the cover, the heavyweight orange vinyl was pristine - I didn't even have to brush it before the first play. The sound was awesome - no extra noise except what was on the source. Quality on the original tracks varies, but it is not due to the pressing - it is because of the limitations of the original source. And when I say "varies" I mean from decent to excellent, IMO there is not a bad sounding track on the album.
The music is great classic reggae. I was only familiar with "Israelites" when I bought this, but as a fan of that song and reggae in general, I thought this would be a great addition to my collection. I enjoy every track and am glad I made this purchase.
The only issue I had was that when I initially ordered this, I received an album where both records were the same (side 1 and side 2). I returned it and the replacement had both records. I suppose that means that the limited edition has two less "in the wild" as there is probably a "side 3 and side 4" double album out there somewhere :)
All in all, I would recommend this to anyone who likes good music, good vinyl, and good reggae.

Richard SummersReviewed in the United States on 7 July 20251.0 out of 5 stars BAD PRESSING - RETURNED FOR REPLACEMENT - RECEIVED EXACT SAME ALBUM BACK THAT WAS RETURNED!
I purchased this album and upon receiving it, of course I had to open it, much to my dismay it was a bad pressing. the first song on disc one (both sides had a large bubble and strange discoloration (see images). Needless to say, it was unplayable, so I returned it with hopes of getting a proper playable replacement. Well some weeks later, I received lITERALLY THE SAME EXACT ALBUM BACK.
