Despite initial reservations, this turned out to be a delightful little book. The narrator is Maggie Hoskins, a sixty-something cleaner cum general dogsbody, who ‘does’ for a group of tenants in the eponymous terrace, somewhere in Kensington and becomes involved in their lives. Written in diary form, which instantly makes the reader feel involved, the story moves over a period of several months and tells of all the ups and downs, not only of her clients, but her own life. The tenants are many and varied, from businessmen, actresses, models and all shades in between. Maggie has left a good-for-nothing husband in Devon and her Devonian way of speaking only adds to the flavour. The only thing that jarred with me (as a seventy-something woman) was would a sixty-something woman really talk about ‘hot sex?’ A minor irritation only.

An interesting different way to write a story but good. Maggie's from her dead end job in Devon to London to clean people's apartments. She organises her clients cleaning, shopping and other chores and these clients become friend and the family she never had. They treat her to a holiday in America and she finds love. Her life changes and decisions have to be made fir her future and that of her man. A good story with some good humour and interesting characters. Well worth a read

Did not enjoy this book though I did struggle to finish it. Not very inspiring and it did not conjure up true "friendships". Would not read anything by this author again.

I liked the idea of writing it like a diary but some of the phrases and wording made me think Kim Woodburn had wrote it not to bad a book

I enjoyed this book, i felt as if i knew all the characters, Maggie is 65, but the way the author started her conversation off with well my dears i felt as if she were older, that was irritating, but apart from that, good book
