This book has it all - a considerable age gap, a gold-star novice sub, a dom dedicated to catering to his sub's every desire and on top of that - fencing!

So we first meet Ryan and Misha at a fencing practice where Ryan asks Misha to be his trainer. Ryan is a complete novice in everything BDSM but he's a natural submissive and wants to learn - with Misha specifically. Misha on the other hand is very experienced Dom and knows exactly what to do - but he soon finds his hands are full with Ryan in more ways than expected when the two of them embark on an affair.

Ryan is from a wealthy background but hides it as he doesn't want it to define him, his family life is all kinds of a mess but Ryan has low self-esteem and doesn't know how to stand up for himself. He learns how to ask for things for himself with Misha and slowly puts distance between himself and his family and is clearly much happier as a result.

Thing inevitably come to a head after New Year's (this is a few months into the relationship) as Misha fulfils one of Ryan's most wanted sexual fantasies. Ryan's insecurities bubble to the surface and he convinces himself that Misha is only interested in the kinky sex and doesn't love him - so he breaks things up. Of course, there is a happy ending but the road there is not easy for either of them.

I really loved this book, so very much. The story is good, down to the little details (like all the fencing parts) and this has some of the best BDSM scenes I've read in a while. I liked that we see the sex from both POV's, how Ryan's submission affects Misha and how Misha's control feels to Ryan - this really is an equal partnership.

******SPOILER ALERT******

Of course, the highlight of the book was the New Year's party scene.

4.5 stars from me for this, my favourite LA Witt story to date, and even though this is a BDSM story, we didn't see those words that sometimes annoy the hell out of me...Master and boy; in fact, I don't even recall a 'Sir' in this story. We had Mikhail, the bisexual thrice married Dom and his alter ego Misha, the fencing coach and college professor, and poor Ryan who definitely needed to divorce himself from his horrendous parents [the whole family was a complete nightmare], bury all of those unhappy and unwanted memories and make brand spanking new ones with the only person who'd ever made him feel loved and wanted.

There is a fantasy scene in this story involving more than one other bed partner, and although tastefully done, and with the full consent of all parties, may cause problems with some readers; otherwise, this is a LOVE story, and yes, there were a few niggles as far as the editing was concerned, but a lovely story and highly recommended.

I've read so many sports based M/M romances and had not a single clue as to what they were talking about when it came to the sport itself so it was awesome to read about fencing, a sport I actually know. It makes a great change to the millions of baseball and American football based books that are out there.

This is a May/December story with Ryan in his twenties and Misha in his forties. Ryan is a student, studying about as far away from home as he can get due to the fact that despite his parent's divorce, he still feels like a pawn and no matter what he does, it's just never good enough for either of them. He comes from a very wealthy family and has a trust fund but he doesn't flaunt his wealth and even goes so far as to use a pseudonym so as to avoid being helped solely due to his family name rather than on his own merit. Misha is a professor but has no educational connection to Ryan, so there’s no trying to hide an illicit affair.

The pair meet at the fencing club, Misha has his attention drawn to Ryan not because of his good looks but because of his utterly aggressive fighting style. He feels the need to bring the boy down a peg or two and after a challenging him to a match, Ryan is left angry and frustrated. Despite his anger, Ryan approaches Misha and asks him to coach him. What starts as a pretty rocky relationship very quickly turns into a deeply mutual attraction and the two become lovers and it's a very fulfilling relationship. Misha is a Dom and sees's in Ryan a certain need for praise and positive reinforcement. It turns out the Ryan is a natural submissive and the two together are absolutely electric together *fans self*

I loved the development of their relationship.

4.5 stars - I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I loved this! From the fencing to the romance to the sexiest orgy I can remember - this is such an amazing story.

Teacher and student, dominant and submissive - Mischa and Ryan are magical together. I loved Ryan’s slow introduction to fencing as much as I loved his introduction to BDSM. I love how his initial arrogance masks his underlying insecurities. And I love Mischa, his patient, considered and thoughtful teacher. Ryan is far too jaded for someone so young and Mischa is far too optimistic for someone with so many failed relationships behind them. They compliment each other perfectly and I loved watching them develop as men and as a couple.

The chemistry between these two is hot from the very start. The age gap should have been off-putting but it works between these two. This relationship is emotional, physical, sexual and cerebral and the slow burn from flirtation to relationship is wonderful. And I have to mention it again - that orgy scene! Wow. Just - wow. The combination of sex and emotion in this book is pretty perfect.

My one slight reservation is the angst following the miscommunication near the end. It felt a little overblown in a relationship that had always seemed as thoughtful as it was emotional. But this is a pretty tiny blip in a story I very much enjoyed.
