Product description

Review

"I read many genre including true crime and this book literally gave me chills. This could happen to anyone. This young girl girl was loved and cherished by her family and friends. She was intelligent, kind, pretty and was doing absolutely nothing wrong when she was abducted. This is every parents worst nightmare. Grab a tissue because this chilling book will bring tears." - Sheila D. In VA

"I had this book to touch me. I wonder what makes people become bad. This is a very well written book that was researched accurate. I felt for the poor girl who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I am a huge fan of Steve Jackson and this book will not disappoint. Keep the lights on and the kleenex box nearby." - Kim Ristoff

With true crime books you generally know what you're in for and this book tells the tale of a horrific crime. But Steve Jackson's writing raises this book above the rest; his characterisation and ability to make even the most pedestrian of legal details interesting meant that once I'd started this book I really didn't want to stop. Jackson has an ability to get inside the minds of his main characters but not at the expense of the story. It's unputdownable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling realization...this could happen to anyone. 28 Mar. 2017

5.0 out of 5 stars Another senseless murder 17 April 2017
By KB Webster - Published on Amazon.com

Sometimes I truly hate defense attorneys and their star witnesses. The defense attorneys in this book stoop as low as any I've ever read about. Steve Jackson tells this heartbreaking story in great detail. And it is very heartbreaking. Totally senseless, as murder usually is. Jacine would have been a great asset to the world had she not had the bad misfortune to cross paths with these two sickos, who thought it might be fun to kidnap, rape, and murder a young woman. I would have fully supported the death penalty for both these guys. God bless Jacine's family. I truly hope that she and her mom, wherever they are, are there together.
5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably horrible story, but good, balanced writing. 15 April 2017
By D. L. F. - Published on Amazon.com

This is a good book that absolutely gave me the chills. I see the horrible results of violence in my work as a forensic anthropologist, but this story is one of the worst, most tragic cases of which I've ever heard. Jacine suffered horribly, and that had to affect her parents forever. We NEVER talk about closure in cases like this, because to many families there is no "closure." Steve Jackson did an admirable job of researching and writing about this case, and it's obvious that he was affected by it. It's not a good story - it's a horrible story, but the writing is good.
5.0 out of 5 stars Endless pain for those left behind 12 April 2017
By Kindle Custome JOAK - Published on Amazon.com

This is another in-depth book, fully researched by Steve Jackson. The cruelty shown to the victim certainly deserved the death penalty for both murderers. The pain and devastation the parents endured was unending, and I felt it as I read.
5.0 out of 5 stars summary 17 April 2017

this book was great. I had never known a murder victim until recently but there is no death penalty in the state where it happened. Mr. Jackson did an excellent job detailing the entire trial proceedings. Very enlighting!
