This is a remarkable portrait of an extraordinary photo journalist called Enrique Metinides. A Mexican who almost incidentally stumbles into career documenting his countries violent struggle with criminality. Almost unimaginably he starts "work" as a nine year old boy with a Box Brownie camera. This film is both insightful and elegiac, a fitting homage to a prodigiously talented but odd man. Metinides has clearly been indelibly marked by all he has seen, and be warned getting to know him will mark you. It left me feeling that no one should see the things Enrique has, but I heartily recommend you give Trisha Ziff's excellent film a watch.
