I got the Fire TV on the release day as a present from my girlfriend, brilliant present I love everything that is hi-tech, but just a couple of days after receiving it, I've left the remote on the floor and eventually heavily stepped on it and crushed...I had to order a new one!
This remote control is worth the little extra you have to pay, despite I was expecting it at a lower price buying directly from Amazon!, but of course you pay for the voice recognition feature which works perfectly all the time and not like other voice activated devices I have at home.
Most remotes are overly complicated, with no lights difficult to operate, and with the advent of smart TVs inadequate and slow...
Despite it's simplicity the remote has all the key buttons and is a pleasure to see that the voice activation works always even if your accent is not native English!
Don't expect a big remote but it's still fairly sized for normal hands!, batteries are included and last a fairly long time with normal evening and week-end use (no games, no young gentlemen or young ladies).

Once you receive it, simply open the box, sit down, relax, push the microphone and start talking to your amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick and it will work for you!

It's understandable but at the same time a shame that it's not possible to control with remote other devices such as Amplifers/SoudBars, TV or TiVo box...
Update: I've just pre-ordered the new amazon fire tv stick and as it'll come with the normal remote, I will order another one of these!

My nine year old loves this (as do I). Early in the morning I hear his voice in the distance, "Sponge Bob Square Pants" and he's watching his favourite program in seconds! It is a bit pricey for what it adds but I love my gadgets.

My house was recently burgled and among the many items stolen was the remote for my Amazon Fire TV. Not the TV itself, just the remote. I got in touch with Amazon and their customer service was first class. I was dealt with by an agent called Bharat who helped me through the process of obtaining this replacement remote, even going so far as to waive the charge due to the circumstances. I could not thank Bharat enough. Brilliant customer service, thank you Amazon.
