Worked as described for a few days. Keep this in mind: I take care of my possessions, and perform tasks as any normal person would; knowing that judge this next statement/fact accordingly. I unplugged a normal usb cable form one of the slots in this item......the thin/cheap/weak blue plastic "guide" (square piece of plastic inside the slot) came up with the cable, I was shocked and when I removed it found it had become brittle and had already divided into two pieces. To avoid any confusion as to wether this was due to negligence or something else: I have no pets, no kids, no guests that have access to my computer room in any way. I did not travel with the item nor did I move it for any reason. To make matters worse, the second item (I bought two) had THE SAME THING HAPPEN twice to two different slots, totaling three between two items, all with three different usb cables (one a standard usb cable, one a standard usb drive, the other an console controller). This had two stars instead of one because delivery was on time. I do not give bad reviews often...
You have been warned.

This one is small enough to take with me when I travel, and works perfectly for all low power USB 3 peripherals, such as my headset and mouse connection. Installed first time with Windows 8. Looks like a quality item, blue strip glows when plugged in so you know it is working.

arrived quickly, and unlike a lot of these add on's on plugging in was discovered by windows straight away. up and running moments later, and zero issues so far. Quality wise , its made of plastic and is light but seems strong and I don't for see any problems here and there are nice size gaps between ports. so a thumbs up from me.

I can't fault the product; I couldn't find a better deal for a USB 3 hub, it looks good, does what it's supposed to and is at a reasonable price. One small criticism might be the USB plug that the hub connects to is short at about 6" length, that's not a problem for me so I don't thinks it's a common reason to dislike a product for anyone else.

Bought it with confidence as a gift because of the past experience I had with Anker. However, I am astonished by this USB Port! You cannot even insert any usb cable at all. The slots just will not allow you no matter how much you try! Very disappointed and I am embarrassed that my gift turned out spoilt.

Worked well for a month or so but then it started to randomly kick my hard drives and USB devices offline. Annoying if you're backing up or as I am, recording audio and video. Can really screw with a hard drive if it's in the middle of indexing too. It's gotten to the point where if I knock it slightly and/or move or touch one of my USB devices or their leads my devices go offline.

I've seen this in other reviews here too, so this is not just a one off complaint.

AND... it's just done it again as I was typing this. So basically the vibrations of me typing has knocked the damn thing offline again.

Pretty poor show really. Buying a better one instead.

Initially a good unit, nice and small, neat blue LED when connected, cable is short at 1ft so make sure it'll reach your PC before ordering. As another review noted the ports are stiff, devices don't slot in and out very easily and require a bit of wiggling and force. This is probably fine if you intend on having devices plugged in all the time, external hard disks, printers etc but for those wanting to use USB sticks I'd be wary. I was using mine just for that and the blue plastic part came out with my usb flash disk :( Credit to Anker though they sorted me out in under 24 hours.

**Update January 2014, Well it seems Anker really are looking to out do Amazon in terms of customer service and satisfaction. I was contacted by Anker to again apologise for my broken hub, check my refund and OFFFER A REPLACEMENT HUB!. Superb service and has completely restored faith in Anker. I'll have no problem considering other Anker made products in the future. The new hub also seems fine. Well done Anker
