This is sitting in the PC that I'm using to write this review. Building the system was (relatively) a breeze and the mobo is doing everything asked of it. I won't go into all of the specs here, suffice to say that Asrock have crammed in all the features most of us look for plus some others that are... unexpected. Gamer-orientated extras like a USB port specifically for a mouse, apparently giving better performance, make sense. However, I'm not convinced of the need for legacy extras like support for IDE and a floppy controller. While they may be useful for some users I can't see those people being in the gaming/high performance user sector.
It would have rated five stars but for a couple of things. The main thing I underestimated was my need for SATA3 connections. Two simply isn't enough and it seems an oversight when you consider the plethora of other connectors on the board. I also have a gripe with the supplied manual, which is in the small format that is so common nowadays. A magnifying glass was essential to read the board schematic and was the only stressful aspect of installation. How difficult would it be for manufacturers to make their guides A4, or at least include a larger fold-out schematic?
Overall, this board is likely to suit most gamers and those looking to build a high performance system with high quality components, with the only caveat being the number of SATA3 connections.
