Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

But with no flash, youtube or standard Google Play Store avalable (as it'd old 1.0.15 android firmware) it's a no go if that's what you're after like i initially was.
The WiFi is also temperamental. internet browsing ok but also struggled to get hotmail and gmail running smoothly.
There are some version's of the Archos 7 Home Tablet that are compatable with a custom firmware upgrade that should allow the normal android market & flash (at your own risk as this will void your warranty) but not the version i received (the version i've recieved is 7HTv1 which there is no verified custom firmware or i could not find one) if it's 7HTv2 then it's my understanding that there are verified custom firmware's available.
Ultimately it's for my 2-3 year old who likes to watch Jolly Phonics or Peppa Pig via youtube on my Galaxy S but as there's no youtube i've had to put loads of avi's on it for her and she seems quite happy with it but if it was for myself and i wanted to access the normal Google Android market like i do with my smartphone then i would look elsewhere!
I bought it foolishly, thinking that it was capable of playing flash videos, which was one of the main reasons I was buying it. I don't know where I got the idea that it was flash capable, because IT'S NOT.
Also, in one instance, the whole thing froze when loading a simple website. I went away and left it for 2 hours, and when I came back, it was still frozen.
It also runs an adapted version of android, NOT the latest smartphone type software, again my own stupidity in not researching that properly.
HOWEVER, before it froze it was quite good at browsing the internet, the pages looked good on the bright 7 inch screen.
The sample video that came with it was excellent quality, so if you're the kind of person with, errr, money to spend on video files, I imagine that this would be awesome for watching videos on a plane or some other mode of transport.
MY POINT IS, research it carefully, be sure that it does what you want it to do, and be aware that THIS IS NOT A CHEAP ALTERNATIVE TO THE IPAD!
The first thing you'll notice when handling it is that it feels a bit cheap. It's constructed completely from plastic, and the screen feels a bit tacky.
On the video side, support for the .avi and .mp4 containers is widely advertised, and even high complexity h264 is on the list of features. Not quite as well advertised is the Matroska (.mkv) support, probably because it can best be described as 'basic'. Matroska's benefit is realised in multiple audio and subtitle streams, but the Archos 7's support is limited to playback of the contained video with the *first* audio track available. Embedded subtitles are not supported, although this is allegedly worked around with an external .srt file. Also, don't expect to be able to play something just because it's an AVI: I have plenty of files that play fine with mplayer or VLC, but which this device renders as a mess of coloured blocks.
There's playback support for mp3s, but almost as an afterthought to the video: the player is ridiculously under-featured, making managing more than a handful of tracks a bit of a pain. This is definitely intended as a video player, with not much support for large volumes of music.
Outside of the media player, the performance of the user interface of this Android-based tablet is sluggish, with noticable lag between touching an icon and having it activate. There is WiFi/internet support, but Flash support is either missing or not up-to-date enough to watch YouTube. There is no integrated PDF reader, and the readers available on the Archos-specific app store are basic, slow, irritating or just crash-prone. In fact, that applies to just about all the apps I've tried from the store.
The only plus I can think of is that *if* your content plays back, it looks really good on the big, 7" screen. There's also a lot of promise in the device: most of the problems are down to the software, so a future firmware update could save the day and turn this into a totally killer player. Until then, save your money.
Top reviews from other countries
-It is smaller and almost half the weight. This makes it comfortable to hold and view with one hand, which is difficult with the iPad. I plan to hold on to it and watch videos while stationary biking at the gym, which would be difficult with a bigger tablet.
-The screen is matte. It has much less glare than the iPad.
-I use it mainly to watch videos. In this capacity, it excels, supporting more video formats than the iPad, and coming in a widescreen format instead of 4x3.
-It does most things as well or nearly as well as the iPad. Aldiko is a great ebook reader, you can download Swype to make typing super fast, videos and music play great, etc.
-It plays youtube and flash videos if you use the Skyfire browser.
Of course, there are drawbacks. I wouldn't give it a low rating though because it's missing features that only come with $500 tablets.
-The screen is resistive, and occasionally doesn't register your tap. This improves with time, if you turn on the click-on-tap sound setting.
-The Android marketplace doesn't work from the device. To get apps beyond the basic ones, you must either install another marketplace (like Slideme) or search around the web.
-The chip is supposedly slower to lower the pricepoint. I haven't noticed this much.
So for a student, or younger working type without much cash, this is an insane buy. Tons of tablets will be coming out this year, but this one works perfectly fine and may still be cheaper than anything else coming out for a long time. 7 inches is a perfect size right in between small phones and big iPads, and I've enjoyed using it in various situations during the week I've owned one.
Enjoy!
Also keine langeweile mehr :)
Für das Geld , ein TOP Gerät .
Attention cependant à ce que vous installerez dessus, car quelques lenteurs peuvent apparaitre si vous alourdissez le système de logiciels superficiels...
:,)
