I bought this for a Compaq tc4400, hoping to bring the WiFi a bit more up to date.

It works perfectly fine if fitted while Windows is running and the drivers are installed, unfortunately the HP/Compaq BIOS includes a 'whitelist' of approved devices (apparently to satisfy the requirements of the FCC) and this isn't any release from them.

The only workaround I have been able to find is to hack the BIOS, and given there's a possibility of bricking it, it probably isn't worth the hassle.

(On a + point, delivery from this vendor was exceptionally quick)

Works fine on my Acer Aspire 5920 - very easy upgrade. Made for Centrino.

This is a great way to speed up your internet access. Many people do not realise that for laptops made over the last 4 years (maybe more) the WIfi is supplied on a small plug in module.which is accessed by removing the bottom cover of the laptop. Remove the battery and mains first then remove the bottom cover. Unclip the antenna from the existing card, undo the two screws holding the card in place, push the new one in, replace the screws, clip on the antenna wires and put the bottom cover back on.

I have Windows 8 which recognised the card and installed the drivers (connect via ethernet first) - you could probably download the driver direct from Intel first if you do not want to use ethernet.

According to the Intel website the card is aimed at Centrino based laptops so not sure if it will work on non Centrino.

I have not had much luck running the Intel support package but the card works and I get a much faster connection than with the card that came with the laptop

Good value upgrade for my laptop

I ordered this to replace the old card in my dell D620. I went from 54 Mps to 160 Mps, after install. Install was easy and straight forward on my old Dell. Works perfectly. Would buy again from seller.
