Putting it together is exasperating, unbelievably difficult, especially get the metal guard assembled around the fan blades, tightening the band in the middle, trying to get both halves lined up and time and again it falling apart. I was considering using it without the guard on it after the second hour. I had to pry off the disc in the middle of the guard with the the name on it so I can get a better grip. It still took another 40 minutes. I even read through all the reviews here looking for assembly tips. The instructions gave hints but I am sure they were written by somebody who has never assembled one.
Performance: It has been a life saver this summer, it I abhor Summer heat and the lack of air, it interferes with my ability to breathe, eat, drink, swallow and sleep. I have it on most of the time at home and I am guessing it might be quite expensive on the electricity. I will see when my quarterly bill arrives. I find setting 2 a better performance than the faster setting 3. There is physics in there somewhere but don't ask me why it performs less on a higher setting. Who knows?
I never managed to get the plastic front bit with the name to click back. One side is attached but the other side will not go back and I pressed hard. Fully extended I would guess the fan is between 4' and 5', it's heavier than it looks, probably the motor and the base is capable of holding it all upright. Knocking into it deliberately to test the stability won't knock it over. I doubt a push would do it either.
On setting 2 I can hear it from the next room, I can remember it being very quiet on setting 1 when I checked it out.
I have seen smaller fans like this more powerful but it stops me hibernating throughout Summer in a freezer which is what it was bought for. It circulates the warm air around the room like all fans do and the oscillating function is about average.
The power cable is ridiculously short. By the time it has reached the floor from the motor, there is about 2 feet of cable left so you might want to make sure you have an extension lead. I have a one metre extension lead to it so it can be placed in the centre of my bedroom and a good portion is is up in the air stretched upwards to the motor.
The dropped a star is for the amount of hair I pulled out when putting it together. It is enough for me to not recommend the fan to people. The short cable would have had another star dropped if I did not have an extension lead.
