The product was nothing like the photo and didn't come in any proper packaging as shown in the sellers photo. It was just lose in the box. I used the product and my equipment BLEW UP. Would not recommend, shoddy product and feel as if i have been totally let down by a poor imitation of what the product was supposed to be. Would definitely not recommend this product or site.

    I used this US to UK plug for a baby soother / projector my friend wanted as a gift for her baby. It only comes from America, so had to buy an adaptor to use it. Its cheap, cheerful, and works great. In my experience adaptors are not for things like hair straighteners - you need to check if the appliance is suitable to go up to 240v (this info can usually be found on the back of an item or near the plug cable). I would suggest if this doesn't work that it is not the adaptor, but rather that the appliance is not suitable to be converted. Great price and quality. Just right for making a US baby projector work in this country!

    Note that this is NOT a voltage transformer. It works for most electronic rechargers but check the fine print first. It will work for appliances that have a switch to change from 120V to 240V.
    For some other things you will need a transformer.

    I had originally ordered this plug to use with my laptop, travelling from USA to UK. I had a HP power supply with a step-down voltage transformer - so this should have been all I needed to use my laptop in the UK. After the first 20mins of use, my power supply started smoking. I ended up replacing the whole power supply and adaptor with just a regular power supply from a UK computer store - this worked great. Just be careful using this product for the purpose i did. The adaptor did work fine for my phone (which again had it's own step-down power supply).

    Note: this is NOT a voltage converter! Use it with your US-plug electronics (iPhone chargers, the new GHDs, etc) - they must be universal voltage.

    I ordered a Clarisonic since it was much cheaper having it shipped from the US than buying it here. As it came with a US mains charger I needed one of these so I could charge it at home. As the Clarisonic is universal voltage it works absolutely fine. Very affordable & arrives fast!

    An excellent well made product at a very good price. It is necessary to realise that this is only an adapter, it just enables the American style pins to fit a UK socket. It doesn't produce the 110V that is used in America. However a lot of small electronic devices, phones, iPads etc come with charging adapters that cover the full voltage range 110V-240V and this travel adapter is well suited for use with these.

    I've given this product a one-star review because of a safety issue:
    1. The unit has a CE mark, but as it is a British electrical plug and British plugs are nothing to do with Europe there cannot carry a CE mark.
    2. The internal fuse is a non-Kite Marked fuse, labelled as 13A. A 13A fuse is quite unsuitable for this type of product and should be a 2A or 3A fuse
    3. The US plug is loose in fitting, not making great contact
    4. You should note that note the electrical outlet is not shuttered, a small child could put a metal object in the live terminal and receive an electric shock.
    I've not opened it up yet, but it is clear that this product has some serious electrical safety issues

    This worked well for me. It plugged securely into the wall sockets, and items plugged into it were also secure. Please be aware that this does not convert voltage, it is simply a plug adapter. All of the items I took with me (hair dryer, hot rollers, cell phone charger) supported other voltages so I didn't need a converter.

    I recommend this item for anyone traveling to the UK. I spent a semester in London, and this proved to be so useful for the duration of my trip! I used this for my Macbook, as well as charging my iPhone. One tip that I would add is that this is good as a stationary adapter (in other words, I preferred to keep this in my flat, and I purchased a separate one to take with me on trips to other countries.)
