EDWARD SNOWDEN AFFAIR: Exposing the Politics & Media Behind the NSA Scandal Paperback – 1 Mar. 2014

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

The narrative begins with Snowden literally growing up in the shadow of the National Security Agency. At a pace that reads like a taut political thriller Gurnow reveals for the first time the dramatic details of how select members of the media broke the story, and the cat and mouse game that followed between the media and the administration. Gurnow goes on to explain in plain language the political, legal and technological implications of the whistleblower's classified data.

Well, well, well. This book wakes a person up. Good reading, well-written, and researched. The book explains more than the movie. Interesting stuff. Purchased as a research source.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pro-Snowden perspective on the history of an epic whistle-blower's voyage.

I bought two books hoping to get a balanced perspective on "The Edward Snowden Affair." "The Snowden Files" by Luke Harding was the other one. While the perspectives between the two weren't very different, this one seemed to be better written from the organizational point of view and thus an "easier" read. Both books were quite "pro-Snowden," and perhaps I should get a contrary view, but they both confirmed my existing biases and distrust for the federal government so I am in no rush to do so unless someone can recommend a well-written and honest alternative.

Good book that covers the main aspects of the whole affair. There was a lot of detail in this book that I'd missed in the media and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

it was a hard read, because it was so technical, but it certainly was a subject that was interesting and a story that needed
to be told.
