Vivi the Supervegan: 1 Paperback – 5 Aug. 2019
'Vivi the Supervegan' is a children's book with a vegan message, designed to encourage children to take a stand and empower them to be compassionate and kind...to all kinds.
About the Author
Tina Newman is a writer, makeup artist and qualified Animal Nursing Assistant living in Suffolk, UK. She shares her home and life with her husband, furry four legged companion Ted the border terrier, and her two own little supervegans; Lyla and Ada. Tina wrote 'Vivi the Supervegan' with the hope that it will help children understand that they have power with their choices and in educating and inspiring others to make changes.
Reviews
"This book provides a positive role model for vegan children who have very few characters in literature to relate to. It deals with the impact that our choices have on animals in an indirect and subtle way - suitable for children. There are no scary scenes at the slaughterhouse, no scaremongering. It doesn't go into graphic detail about what happens to animals but my five year old said after reading it, 'I think the piglet's mummy was sent to a shop and made into ham'. That utterly broke my heart and made me realise that with just a little information, children are intelligent and compassionate enough to make humane choices all by themselves."-Jasmine Harman - TV presenter.
"A great story of a young warrior who inspires the people around her to be more kind to animals" -James Aspey - Australian animal rights activist and lecturer.
"Vivi the Supervegan is a gorgeous story brimming with warmth, hope and love. Exciting Vivi brings us compassion in soft and beautiful tales. Vivi has won a place in mine and my children's hearts." - Juliet Gellatley - Founder and director, VIVA!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 September 2023Format: PaperbackMy kids, age 3 and 4, both love this book … they are so happy that there are other ‘super’ vegans just like them. I agree with other reviews that it’s a bit wordy, but I would still absolutely recommend it based on the lovely message, the illustration, and how much my kids love it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 August 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI bought this book for when my granddaughter is 3. We are already a vegan family. This lovely, quirky story explains how a little one can learn to love, to care for, and be kind to other species. I don't think our beautiful planet can survive unless we all live in a vegan, cruelty-free world. It's not too much to ask, is it? Thank you for promoting veganism to the little people.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 May 2021Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseBeautifully illustrated and it starts off strong...
I'd been searching for a suitable age appropriate story book with beautiful illustrations for my toddler with a vegan message for a while. So I was super excited when I saw this one as the illustrations are lovely and it had great reviews. However I am a little disappointed sadly. It starts off really well, but I think perhaps it needed an editor to fine tune it. It's overly wordy on many pages and is hard to follow. It would be fantastic if it was just edited a bit more cleanly. It has a lovely message throughout the book portraying the main character as a vegan superhero looking after animals which is very sweet, and definitely much more gentle way to communicate with young vegans the reason why we chose to live this way.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 July 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseBeautiful pictures, great message. Only reason I haven't given it 5 stars, is that there is a few pages in the middle that just seem off topic. When it's on the topic it's subtle and elegant. But when it talks of sneaking out of school to save the animals. Wish they had written a different way to go about it is all. But overall great to add to collection and my kids love it
