Product Description

From the Publisher

First published in 2001 under the title `sauceguide to
Cocktails' this edition `#6' published October 2006. Over the past five
years this had developed to become what we believe to be the most
comprehensive and definitive cocktail book available.

From the Author

Unlike previous editions of our Cocktails guide in this
edition (#6) I have made every one of the 2,000 cocktails at least twice,
and some many times. I first sample each cocktail and adjust the recipe for
taste and simplicity. I then make each drink again for the accompanying
photograph. After our photographer has captured a drinks image I then
sample it again to see if it would benefit from any final adjustments.
I draw some recipes from my own collection of vintage and modern cocktail
books, referencing the source under the `Origin' of each drink. Others come
directly from my visiting leading bars around the world as I travel to
review bars for our quarterly guide. Some are my own invention and are
referenced "Created by yours truly".

Format: Hardcover
This book is a superb collection of cocktail recipes ranging from the old (Champagne Cocktails), the standard (G&Ts, Dry Martini etc) through to the very latest in fashions and styles. However where this book really stands out is in the introduction with a decent description of how to establish a simple bar at home along with a review of some of the more renowned Cocktail Bars across the globe with a good few being in the UK.

Buy it if you just want to lazy away an afternoon or evening imagining your perfect drinks, buy it if you want to start making your own cocktails, buy it if you are established mixologist looking to widen their recipes .... In short BUY IT!

I have Difford's guide #4 at work and I was determined to buy myself one of his books. This one in particular is amazing. It has over 2000 cocktails, bartender basics, background for some cocktails and much more. It is a great book in my opinion. I recommend it to everyone.

Format: Hardcover
This edition of the Diffords guide makes a change from previous ones with its slightly more useful index, but it is still maddeningly difficult to find recipes based on the contents of your drinks cupboard or a particular type of spirit that you fancy (and a good part of what index there is leans heavily towards recipes featuring major brands - more an advert than a help, really).

At least the recipes themselves are excellent and up-to-date - we have several that have become regular favourites (once the page is properly marked with a bit of paper!). In fact despite the issues above I've not seen a larger or more reliably delicious collection of cocktail recipes.

HASH(0x8d002d98) out of 5 stars This Could Become My New Bible... 17 Oct. 2007
By Ehsan Khan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This has got to be one of the most comprehensive, if not the most comprehensive book on the art of bartending and mixology.

Everything from glassware, mixing, tools, and garnishes is covered and that's not even starting on the actual drinks. They have absolutely EVERY drink imaginable.

Now don't go looking for some drink that you invented years ago while you were in college, because it's not going to be there. But every legitimate drink is listed here. GREAT BOOK!
